The struggling fast-food giant's sales have fallen recently and their new CEO, Steve Easterbrook, unveiled a turnaround plan on Monday morning. And he did not mince words when discussing the company's problems.
Recognizing that recent performance was "poor" and that "the numbers don't lie" - some of the challenges he faces are:
But what Easterbrook really wants to change is the quality of the food and the stale brand image. He stressed that they need to innovate more. What do you think?

Don't change the fries.
The burger prices are a little on the high side. McDonald's needs to stay true to their original menu. I think that their original menu is what made McDonald's so popular. Also, the flavor of their fried has changes a lot over the years. Please stop over salting the fries! My dad and I used to enjoy a coke and fries and now we can't. Way too much salt on the fries.
I think that McDonald's needs to make several tweaks to its menu. This is important because people are more focused on healthier foods now for them and also their kids, so there are a lot of people avoiding fast food. First of all, I think they need to take out all artificial food coloring, all artificial sweeteners and focus on more natural foods. None of us need 9000 ingredients in our foods. Simple eating is best for all of us. I think McDonald's would do very well if they made these changes. Also I think it might be nice if they changed their breads to include whole-wheat rolls. White bread is not good for anyone
They are going in so many different directions right now kind of like Hardees did many years ago. Stick with a plan and keep it. You can't keep offering cheap crap to eat and increasing the prices. Either upgrade your food products to better ingredients and raise prices or stick with the cheap crap but keep your prices cheap.
Aside from the obvious issues they have with meat quality, I believe McDonald's could do a lot to improve their image by improving their service standards. I do not think their food is terrible, I think it is prepared by employees who do not care about standards and managers that either do not care or are too inexperienced to handle proper customer service problems. Their French fries are the best on the market, but every time I order them lately they are undercooked, cold, greasy, and inedible. I get so tired of complaining and wasting my time and money I just do not bother anymore. I would go back to eating at McDonalds more regularly if I didn't feel ripped off and foolish after eating there. It is not a great experience, and not a feeling you want to have after spending your hard earned money at an establishment.
Treat their employees better, and better wages.
I wish they would make more grilled options!!
One thing I will have to say is McDonalds toys are becoming more cheaply made and as for the food McDonalds is good for a fast burger and it would be nice if we had our own options of what we wanted in our value meals. But mostly I would say just focus on being true to you and not what everyone else is doing.
Reduce the sodium, change to healthier oils, eliminate all artificial ingredients such as flavor, color, preservatives and high fructose corn syrup (especially in ketchup), more entree salad variety, fresh veggies such as grape tomatoes available as sides, baked sweet potato option as a side. The prices have gone way up but quality and variety have not.
My biggest problem with McDonald is they never get my order rite
I love the idea Jesxplayer had about fruit on the pancakes. My main thought is this: I remember growing up and when hearing McDonald's, I immediately thought of their French fries. It was signature McDonald's that could not be found anywhere else. Nowadays, the fries aren't anything special that I would drive out of my way to get. I also loved the Big Mac. Again, it could not be bought anywhere else. While having a revolving "specials" menu, I believe McDonald's needs to honor what made their chain a household word, and synonymous with good fast food.
McDonalds has the reputation for lower quality ingredients. They took a hit with the whole pink sludge debacle. It would be a good idea to offer family meal deals where you get so many sandwiches, sides and drinks for a lower price than if you buys individual meals. Think KFC bucket meals. Also, a reward card that gives you free items when you buy so many or a specific dollar amount. Maybe promotions for each day of the week--that don't change so people get used to them (coffee drinks on Monday, parfaits on Tuesday, salads on Wed, Sandwiches on Thur, etc.)
I think they should be faster the last time I was there I waited almost 30 minuets for my food
I stopped eating at McDonalds because I want to know that the food I eat is fresh so I choose other options. With the move to cleaner eating, I think McDonald's is losing many people because they just don't have clean, organic, healthy options.
I think the biggest trends you see these days are people eating "real food". Chipotle runs a successful restaurant using this concept. Take out the excess sugar, processed foods, and general garbage in the food. Fry fewer items. Use whole grains instead of white flour. If you don't give people choices in white vs. wheat bun, they'll take what you have. Add healthier beverage options. Offer healthier side items for combos (or better yet, don't have combos especially not SUPER SIZED). Even if you lose some customers who don't want to eat healthier, there will others to take their place - like ME :-)
