The struggling fast-food giant's sales have fallen recently and their new CEO, Steve Easterbrook, unveiled a turnaround plan on Monday morning. And he did not mince words when discussing the company's problems.
Recognizing that recent performance was "poor" and that "the numbers don't lie" - some of the challenges he faces are:
But what Easterbrook really wants to change is the quality of the food and the stale brand image. He stressed that they need to innovate more. What do you think?

a full line of reasonably priced veggie options!
I think they should focus on a higher quality concerning their food. I mean they should still keep their dollar menu items, but have a better quality on the more expensive items. My personal opinion is I can't taste the difference between the 2.
Have soup available all year long.
It will be really hard for them to change their brand image since McDonald's is synonymous with fast food which has a very unhealthy/junk food perception. However, since they are leaders in the fast food industry it would be nice to see them bring a healthy change in restaurants!
I wish McDonalds would focus on their burgers and sides instead of worrying about coffee and other things that other restaurants are for. It seems to me that McDonald's is trying to get a hand in everything. They do have the best fries out there though!!
Better quality meat would be a start.
I think they are spreading themselves thin trying to incorporate all different food trends when they should be focusing on what they do well or used to do well...hamburgers and fries.
Follow Panera's lead and get rid of a lot of artificial/unhealthy ingredients.
McDonald's was always our favorite fast food growing up.
I rarely eat McDonalds anymore. The rare occasion I do eat it, my stomach hurts and it leaves a bad aftertaste in my mouth. McDonalds used to hold very high standards for their staff and their product. I don't see it anymore.
take out preservatives and artificial coloring - more healthful salads and salad dressing - loved the Asian Salad they used to have but they don't have it any more
I agree with what others are saying. McDonald's needs to focus on what they are trying to sale. Narrow it down because there are too many options-McCafe, Sweet Tea, smoothes, Wraps, breafast sandwiches, breakfast plates, premium salads....pick a few items and work on the quality. I know that I've heard the McCafe machines are hardly ever cleaned out and I refuse to ever try anything on the McCafe menu. Also, I think the big thing right now is fresh/organic and local produce. Start using high quality ingredients so your meals taste better, and are better for you! Also, I want to mention that when I was a kid (in the 90's) I always looked foward to kids meals, playgrounds, and the McD's mascots (the hamburglar, the purple thing, and the pom-pom looking things). My favorites were the lunch boxes, and the camping accessores (a collapsable cup and cantene). I still have them!
I want to see more organics and less meat at McDonalds. It has a bad rep for it's meat factories and unethical treatment of animals.
More healthy sides to choose from. However, I feel our own eating in moderation is the most important.
My family and I eat McDonalds every so often and we love it. My personal favorite is the big Macs! They have been in business for so long they must be doing something right. When you think of McDonald you don't think healthy though, it is a quick, easy and convenient. If they want to change something adding more fruits and maybe lower carb stuff would work but I think if it's not broke why try to fix it.
