Today was my daughter's first day of school and she'll be taking her lunch A LOT due to the lunches not being very wholesome!
My child's private school doesn't provide lunches - so you'd have to bring your own lunch which I much prefer. I prefer giving my son organic and natural foods rather than what I imagine school lunches would serve.
Last year, my daughter's school started to change their menu and served some pretty awesome stuff like Squash and Apples, Spinach, and Baked Sweet Potatoes and more. She tried the stuff and liked it!! Whoo Hoo
Our last school district had much better food. My daughter would request lettuce on her tacos because they stopped automatically offering it since most kids wouldn't eat it. Our current school district brings in essentially box lunches. The fruit/vegetable offering is a juice box. My daughter takes lunch to school every day now..
They do well in that they give them options. My daughter grabs extra fruit and veggies most days. Their menu usually includes hamburgers, tacos, pizza, and corn dogs. I feel that most of those are unhealthy and boring choices if you are eating them five days a week.
