GOOD LUCK!
I've thrown a bridal shower for my sister-in-law, it was a lot of work and coordination. I'm not sure how happy she was about it, she had just given birth to my neice and well, she was just ready to get married, she covered all her bases, the bridal shower was just an extra thing, she kept it all very simple.
I had a fantastic "Tropical" themed bridal shower, since the wedding was to be in San Diego, right by the beach. So much fun stuff to decorate, grass skirts, coconuts, hibiscus flowers, all tropical themed appetizers like grilled pineapple on skewers, Hawaiian rum punch and the like. There were games like limbo and something where I had to wear a coconut shell bikini...umm don't quite remember what that one was about! ;-)
I did not have a bridal shower or wedding reception ,because I was going to move to a friends town and so i moved some of my things there and then it turned in to avisit instead were i was and so we moved the wedding up 2 mos. early so that my best friend could be there and we got married their instead of were i was going to be married , We got married in her back yard with just us and them, and her aunt and uncle. I have always regreated that i did not have one.
I had two bridal showers and they were both really nice. My aunt and cousin threw one for me that was pretty traditional and it involved the older family members. Got towels, dishes and things like that. The other one was at a restaurant. It was a little smaller and involved younger family members because it was a lingerie party. Fun.
My bridal shower was at a restaurant and everything was great. I have planned showers and even and in home wedding reception. The bride to be could have her wedding reception wherever she would like, and she wanted to have it at her father's home, which was a very large home. It was a Winter wedding. I made all of the floral arrangements and added a touch of sparkle. Poinsettia plants were placed on the end of each stair for guests to take home as a keepsake. Everything turned out beautifully.
We threw bridal shower for my friend. We played toilet paper wedding dress and the best one was selected by the bride. We bought some of the grocery like cookies pack, salt container and basic necessicity and friends and family from both sides have to guess the price. The winner takes the procduct. During the entire party no one was allowed to say the name of bride or groom or the word marriage. Everyone was given 5 silly bands in the beginning.who ever says these word or names loses the silly band to the person who catches the mistake. It was fun different and lot of good gifts.
My mother purchased a recipe box for my wedding shower. With each invitation, she sent a blank recipe card with a note asking the guests to write their favorite recipe on the card and bring it to the shower. When the guests arrived they added their card to the box and I was presented with the most thoughtful and personal present I ever received. Years have gone by and I still use those recipes today. Many of the contributors have passed on, so I have come to treasure these recipes more and more!
At my shower, the hostess had me walk around showing all the guests a try with about 20 items on it and them leave the room. She had told the guests to memorize everything on the tray. After I left the room she had them write down everything they could remember about what I was wearing. there were some upset older ladies because they didn't think that was fair. My shoes didn't match my belt and that upset people because they answered wrong.
I actually just hosted a bridal shower last night! We decorated with mason jars full of fresh cut cherry blossom branches, and vintage frames with black and white pictures of the couple. We served drinks in mason jars, and had a variety of salads to eat. We played gift bingo, which gives the guests something to do while the bride is opening presents, and helped the bride be more comfortable, not feeling like everyone was just staring at her. We also played "He said, She said." Before the shower we asked the couple several questions and recorded their answers. Guests had to guess who gave which answer and the person who guessed the most correctly won. It was a fun way to see the couple together, as most of us have never met the groom before. It was simple and elegant and a lot of fun!
My sister hosted the most amazing bridal shower for me when I got married 13 years ago. As each guest arrived, she had a polaroid camera handy (this was before digital made this idea even easier) and took a picture of each guest with me. After everyone arrived, she had set up a table full of scrapbooking supplies and each of the guests prepared a scrapbook page for me with the picture of us, advice for a good marriage, and a favorite memory. To this day, I cherish those pages more than any gift I received at either the shower or the wedding. It was an amazing and special experience.
My husband and I worked in the same office. I knew the guys were throwing him a surprise bachelor party and I was so jealous. I couldn't stand the guys bugging me about getting him there on time so I asked my boss to allow me to take off a few days prior. He told me me that I had to work and couldn't have the time off which made no sense. Well it did make sense after the girls threw me a shower, to my surprise. I had to be there or the shower would have not come to be!!! Stupid me for thinking they would forget about me.
My Bridesmaids planned a wonderful shower for me...however the day-of, when my Maid of Honor picked me up to drive me the 45 minutes to the surprise destination, traffic was oddly heavy. We tried to re-route, but were sitting bumper to bumper in every direction. Turned out there was a serious bus accident that completely shut down I -95. The ride wound up taking almost 4 hours...my mom and mother-in-law toasted me over speaker phone and the guests all ate without me! I finally arrived about 15 minutes before the shower was scheduled to end; some of my guests had already left. Luckily the venue gave us the room for an extra hour, so I was able to quickly eat and open most of my gifts before the shower was officially over. Perhaps winning one of your for the story of my less than ideal shower will make it a little better!
Well I had a standard bridal shower but if your looking for ideas I think a fun shower would be a night away with the girls like in Vegas.
For one of my girlfriend's we had a "First" theme; people brought gifts she could use for her "firsts" of marriage, such as their first picnic, first movie night, first vacation, etc as husband and wife. For another one of our showers, we played a game while the bride opened presents to make gift opening more fun and also to help ease the bride with being the center of attention. Everyone filled in a blank BINGO card before she started opening presents with what they thought the gifts would be. First person with BINGO won a prize.
I had a fun bridal shower.my aunt planned it with her friend and the crossword puzzles and shower games were sex themed which suprised me but was funny because my husband's grandma who was in her 80's was there along with my best friend's grandma.I got a cute honeymoon lingerie set and the card wasn't signed for 10 years I just said I received it from the "lingerie fairy".a while ago I brought up to my aunt that I still had no idea who gave the lingerie to me and she told me it was her.mystery solved lol!
