GOOD LUCK!
My sister and mom threw my bridal shower at my parents house. They did it beach themed in the backyard, complete with baby pool for water tiki torches, beach towels as decor, and blue candle holders with sand and tropical flower candles inside.
I planned a bridal shower that was a hawaiian theme complete with leis, decorations, a tropical cake, and tropical summery dresses. I have found in books the idea for having guests bring something for each letter of the alphabet or even for each room of the house. I really like those ideas and the next shower I plan will definitely incorporate those ideas.
I loved my bridal shower (s) I had Nine Bridesmaids and no one could agree on anything so what they did wad for the entire week before my "shower" they would start out at something small like I came home from work there was a few people there and they were like "suprise" here is your party and I had one small gift and a cupcake..(i cried) and each day it got bigger and bigger and then I was blind folded and put into a car where I had to guess where I was being taken..each wrong guess costed me a shot lol and when I pulled back the blind fold I was the airport and my bags were allready packed and I was flown to VEGAS where the rest of the group was there and we had a fanstastic weekend! I don't think I ever cried so hard for so many days thinking that I was not loved...each day got "a bit" better but VEGAS..COME ON Priceless!!!!
I am planning my wedding right now! It's in august and i'm having the bridal party in July. Bridal shower July 21 and Bachelorrette party July 14th. I decided to have an active Bachelorrette party so we're all doing a foam fest 5k run. I'm so excited. And for the shower we're doing the traditional games of making toilet paper dresses etc.
My sister and sister-in-law threw my bridal shower. They did such an amazing job and kept it very simple, since I am a very simple person. They only games that we played was the newlywed game which they asked my fiance at the time questions and I had to quess his answers when they asked me those questions. The best part about my shower was the gift my mom gave me. She bought me a ton of underwear. Which if you knew our relationship you would know that she would buy me underwear often. So when I opened it everyone was embrassed for me, but it was not at all embrassing.
I had a wonderful shower - it was at a local park under a pavilion. My bridesmaids bought and prepared the foods themselves (It was delicious!) and they decorated simply with white table clothes and potted daisies for center pieces - which were also favors. It was a little warm out so paper fans were placed at each seat to help keep guests cool. It was simple, relaxed and fun - everything I wanted! It was the best!
I was blessed enough to have 2 showers. My family threw me a naughty shower where all the gifts were some sort of lingerie or pajamas. Each guest was given a heart shaped cutout and asked to give a piece of advice for me. These were used as the background to a scrapbook page that was made. My moms boss who has known me since I was born also offered to throw me a shower. It was a chef themed shower. Each guest was sent a recipe card along with their invitation. They were asked to bring it filled out with their favorite recipe they wanted to share with me along with a gift that was cooking or home themed. I walked away with all my kitchen essentials and a great collection recipes to get me started.
Mine was thrown by a family friend, really fun and fancy with finger foods and punch, everyone had a great time and I will remember it forever. Something they did that was special was to create pictures with me and each of the guests and gave me a photo album to put the pics in later.
I went to a really neat shower a little while back and the theme was "Your Day." Each person picked a time within a 24 hour period. I was assigned 7-8 am, so the gift was easy -- A coffee maker. Some of the other hours were a bit of a challenge, but my favorite was my friend who had chosen 10-11 pm -- she gave the bride-to-be a First Aid Kit and a trampoline to boot! Her reasoning was having all that "pent" up frustration when the husband was "too tired." lol
My mother-in-law paid for my shower and wedding. Both were pretty simple and kind of tame. I apparently had no say in anything, which was disappointing. My shower just had finger foods and soda. We played basic shower games, too. I did get a lot of nice gifts, though. My wedding was at a non-denominational church and my uncle game in from Maryland just to walk me down the aisle. It was nice. The reception was indoor/outdoor because it was in the high 80's that day and gorgeous out. Got to ride in a 1968 Mercury Cougar on my way there. We had the reception catered by a local restaurant and bought alcohol to serve separately. The DJ played some good songs, too. Overall, I wish things had been more creative and fun, but I did enjoy both my shower and wedding.
A few of my closest friends came over and we toiled away (over lunch and great conversation) to make favors, decorations and place markers for the wedding.
My mom and aunt threw a bridal shower for me. It was super fun. The most memorable thing though was the cake! A family friend who I've known since I was a baby made it for me. It had a banana sticking out of it to represent ... well you know... and some men's briefs! I don't even think I ate the cake because it was disturbing! But memorable!
I went to a shower where the guests were assigned a month of the year, and had to bring a gift that the bride and groom could use in that month. I had December, so I bought wine glasses from the registry for New Year's toasting. The person who had November bought place settings for Thanksgiving dinner. The wedding was in October, and the best gift was from the person who had September. They gave a baby onesie!
Had a very small shower. Basic. Some of this stuff is so over the top. What's the point?
I had a bridal shower thrown by my best friend. It was nice and memorable. Not too many games though.
