2015's In-the-Moment Halloween Costume Trends and Giveaway

Each year we are introduced to a host of very in-the-moment costumes. Who can forget the Sarah Palin costumes of 2008 or last year’s parade of Orange is the New Black character costumes? 2015 appears to be a good year for topical humor halloween costumes, many of which were born right here on the internet.

Read on and enter to win a $50 Amazon Gift Card for a bit of Halloween costume shopping!

If we’re talking about being on trend, we can’t really have a 2015 Halloween without a Donald Trump costume. And apparently, even the Donald can be transformed into a suggestive costume complete with shorty-shorts, a red tie, a tiny jacket, and a pair of complimentary panties for some reason?

If you're a Star Wars fan, the reboot of the movie this year brings renewed interest in the francise. Dress up like Yoda or Dearth Vader, or of course Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia and relive your youth.

At this point in 2015, you’ve probably become well acquainted with the ‘Pizza Rat” video that has gone viral on YouTube. (And if you haven’t, you should probably check it out right away). The video shows a New York subway rat heroically carrying a slice of pizza down some stairs. I know that doesn’t sound very sexy, but in true Halloween trend fashion costume designers have found a way to sex it up with a revealing rat dress featuring pizza pockets.

Mashable reports about ‘the dress’ costume that is making it’s way on Halloween goers this year. For just $46.95 you can start up the old debate at any Halloween party: “It’s white and gold!” Soon followed by a, “NO! IT’S BLUE AND BLACK!” The costume itself is a dress that is half white and gold and half blue and black. But apparently the actual dress is on sale if you want to be even more authentic to the dress debate.

I think they will have the blue and gold dress. I don't dress up anymore. I just let my son dress up and he is dressing up as Batman this year.

Having a Halloween party for the first time in 3 years. Can't wait to dress up! The kids are all set as my little Minion and Mavis from Hotel Transylvania but I haven't had a new costume in YEARS. A GC to Amazon would go a long way towards making it so I don't drag out the same old dress and black hat.

I think some of those were funny. I don't dress up for Halloween, but my 3 year old wants to be a zombie army man and my 7 year old is some bad guy from Ultron or something lol.

Not loving all the sexy ones - I like the funny ones and I'm loving all the Star Wars costumes thanks to Disney buying the franchise. Happy Halloween!

I agree with most of the comments. Why must everything be sexy? Where are the fun family costumes?

I love humorous costumes. I don't think the ones above are that funny, except for maybe the dress one. But I also really like costumes that I can wear around my kids that are family friendly and they would enjoy! So none of the above would really work, except for maybe the mouse one.

I typically make my families costumes! We've been everything from Cheech & Chong, Pilsbury doughboy, handy manny, a mad scientist and so much more! I'm not a huge fan of the sexy costumes but the ideas are great! We have our costumes picked out this year we just need to get them put together!

My Grandsons have far more original costume ideas, one will be Inspector Gadget and the other chooses to be Paul Bunyan!

I like to go for family themed costumes. This year we're going retro with Care Bears!

I like the "is it blue or is it white" dress. That was interesting and it would be a conversation piece. I saw it as both colors but mostly blue.

The Donald Trump costume is my favourite - scary and ridiculuous.

The idea of trying to make every costume "sexy" seems rather silly to me. I've always been a fan of the more original and creative costume ideas people come up with (be it current themes or more classic characters, etc.), but just hiking up the hemline or dropping the neckline to turn something from clever to sexy sort of ruins it, in my opinion.

I personally do not like any of these costumes. I am glad that my kids are young enough not to want to dress in short skirts and dresses. Although, I did when I was younger. My daughter was the challenge this year as a 5 year old she wanted to be a vampire. There are many kids vampire costumes but they are designed off of monster high which I would never let her wear out in public. We finally found one that she really liked and it was adorable, yet scary.
