2015's In-the-Moment Halloween Costume Trends and Giveaway

Each year we are introduced to a host of very in-the-moment costumes. Who can forget the Sarah Palin costumes of 2008 or last year’s parade of Orange is the New Black character costumes? 2015 appears to be a good year for topical humor halloween costumes, many of which were born right here on the internet.

Read on and enter to win a $50 Amazon Gift Card for a bit of Halloween costume shopping!

If we’re talking about being on trend, we can’t really have a 2015 Halloween without a Donald Trump costume. And apparently, even the Donald can be transformed into a suggestive costume complete with shorty-shorts, a red tie, a tiny jacket, and a pair of complimentary panties for some reason?

If you're a Star Wars fan, the reboot of the movie this year brings renewed interest in the francise. Dress up like Yoda or Dearth Vader, or of course Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia and relive your youth.

At this point in 2015, you’ve probably become well acquainted with the ‘Pizza Rat” video that has gone viral on YouTube. (And if you haven’t, you should probably check it out right away). The video shows a New York subway rat heroically carrying a slice of pizza down some stairs. I know that doesn’t sound very sexy, but in true Halloween trend fashion costume designers have found a way to sex it up with a revealing rat dress featuring pizza pockets.

Mashable reports about ‘the dress’ costume that is making it’s way on Halloween goers this year. For just $46.95 you can start up the old debate at any Halloween party: “It’s white and gold!” Soon followed by a, “NO! IT’S BLUE AND BLACK!” The costume itself is a dress that is half white and gold and half blue and black. But apparently the actual dress is on sale if you want to be even more authentic to the dress debate.

I don't really like most of the recent news inspired costumes. its more fun when people are creative and make unique costumes...or just go with classics like I will be this year...a vampire!

I think this year people have become creative in what to wear this Halloween season. Me personally I was going to go as a pizza delivery girl. Vetos hat, shirt, and pizza box made out of cardboard.

While I think the Trump costume would be funny, I think it looks stupid done as a "sexy" version. Were most of the costumes for this article picked off of Victoria's Secret?

Halloween is supposed to be scary, bloody, gory and nightmarish. I am going to go scary, not exactly sure, but there will be blood....

I'm really liking these costumes, I'd forgotten about the what color dress. I'm looking for couples costumes for me and my husbay to go to our first ever dress up costume party together, and we've been married almost 20 years, so I'm really excited.

I think Halloween is supposed to be fun for everyone! It's the only time of year we can use our imagination and dress up either as someone famous, scary and just have fun! As long as the costume is not offensive to anyone. I'll probably dress up as a witch and go trick or treating with my grandkids!

I think Halloween costumes now, are over sexualized. I find it ridiculous and eye rolling. Sexy pizza rat? really? By all means, if you want to go sexy for Halloween go for it! It's just everything at Halloween stores seem to have just pure "sexy costumes." Also, on another note there's a lot of cultural appropriation. I don't think someone's culture should be worn as a "costume." It's disrespecting. My costume will most likely be a fairy so I would like to get a tutu!

I wear a headband with devil's horns and a tail attached to my jeans. That's it...it counts as a costume for work cuz we are encouraged to dress up. I think the featured costumes are pretty dumb. And I agree with the comments about sexualizing everything...stupid and unnecessary.

I usually don't dress up, but I think St Valentine would be cute custome...my 10 year wants to be a mindcraft character or 5 nights of Freddie.
