2015's In-the-Moment Halloween Costume Trends and Giveaway

Each year we are introduced to a host of very in-the-moment costumes. Who can forget the Sarah Palin costumes of 2008 or last year’s parade of Orange is the New Black character costumes? 2015 appears to be a good year for topical humor halloween costumes, many of which were born right here on the internet.

Read on and enter to win a $50 Amazon Gift Card for a bit of Halloween costume shopping!

If we’re talking about being on trend, we can’t really have a 2015 Halloween without a Donald Trump costume. And apparently, even the Donald can be transformed into a suggestive costume complete with shorty-shorts, a red tie, a tiny jacket, and a pair of complimentary panties for some reason?

If you're a Star Wars fan, the reboot of the movie this year brings renewed interest in the francise. Dress up like Yoda or Dearth Vader, or of course Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia and relive your youth.

At this point in 2015, you’ve probably become well acquainted with the ‘Pizza Rat” video that has gone viral on YouTube. (And if you haven’t, you should probably check it out right away). The video shows a New York subway rat heroically carrying a slice of pizza down some stairs. I know that doesn’t sound very sexy, but in true Halloween trend fashion costume designers have found a way to sex it up with a revealing rat dress featuring pizza pockets.

Mashable reports about ‘the dress’ costume that is making it’s way on Halloween goers this year. For just $46.95 you can start up the old debate at any Halloween party: “It’s white and gold!” Soon followed by a, “NO! IT’S BLUE AND BLACK!” The costume itself is a dress that is half white and gold and half blue and black. But apparently the actual dress is on sale if you want to be even more authentic to the dress debate.

I think most of the costumes are lame and overpopularized by social media. People are so tired of seeing the same old stuff. My family is not going for trendy LOL's. We are gonna be downright scary. We are going to dress up as sorcerers sorceresses and grim reapers.

I think a lot of superhero costumes will be popular this year. I will like to be a Goddess. My boys want to be Captain America and Donatello.

I don't really like any of the above costumes. And I'm not sure if I'm dressing up this year. My one son will be Miles from Miles from Tomorrowland. My other son is going to be Star Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy. The two year old is going to be Merida from Brave. Not sure my 11 year old is dressing up or not. She's still undecided.

I think we will see a ton of Trumps this Halloween. I agree with many of the posts ...costumes have become way too "sexy" -- getting ridiculous!

I can see that companies are trying to appeal to the generation of social media to make a sale. While I am sure there will be people that buy these, they are not for me.

These costumes are pretty hilarious! My daughter will be a fire chief, my son will be a police offer, I'll be a hot dog and my wife will be a chicken. The adult costumes are borrowed, so we had few choices!

Donald Trump should be popular this year, along with anything related to Star Wars.

I think the outfits are odd to say the least. Buuut to each their own. I'm not dressing up but I made my baby girl a homemade cat costume for her first Halloween.

There will be plenty of "presidential" nominee costumes at adult parties but I don't believe that will bleed over into the youth. Lots of zombies since The Walking Dead is back on. Maybe a lot of Daryl Dixons running around! As for us, we are a mixed bag. My hubby will be Michael Myers (he has the perfect build for it!), I bought a new costume and am going as Freddy Krueger (not sexy Freddy, gory man Freddy with full makeup), my 7 yr old son is a Storm Trooper and my 4 yr old daughter chose Freddy Krueger too!
