Parents Send Child Safety Message With Harrowing Video of Their Twin Saving His Brother

It’s difficult to see our children in distress, but Utah parents are sending a wakeup call to others about furniture safety by sharing a very harrowing video surveillance clip of their twins after a bedroom dresser falls on top of them. Thankfully, both boys are safe and healthy but the clip shows what could have been a much more serious or even fatal injury from falling furniture. The video also shows the bravery and twin bond of one brother who miraculously saves his other brother when he gets caught under the dresser.

CNN reports about the video captured by a nanny cam and shared by parents Ricky and Kayli Schoff depicting their twin 2 and a half year old sons playing alone in their bedroom. When the twins, Brock and Bowdy, open their dresser drawers and Brock begins to climb, we see the entire piece of furniture fall onto the toddler. His brother Bowdy then goes into assessment mode and after a few failed attempts at lifting the dresser off his brother, somehow manages to slide it off him which allows Brock to escape from under.

Schoff reports that she didn’t hear the accident occur early Friday morning and only saw that the dresser had fallen when looking at the video surveillance. She says, “We didn't hear anything, we normally hear them throwing their toys, they are super mischievous.” But after reviewing the footage she realized the scary situation her children had been in. Thankfully, husband Ricky reports that both sons were unharmed saying, “there wasn't a scratch. It's kind of a miracle, it's something really special, to see how Bowdy helped Brock.”

The parents hesitated on whether or not to share the video, but decided spreading the word about keeping children safe around heavy furniture is a priority. Sad Ricky shares on his YouTube channel, “I've been a little hesitant to post this. But I feel it's not only to bring awareness, but it is also incredible. We are so grateful for the bond that these twin brothers share. We know Bowdy was not alone in moving the dresser off of Brock. And feel blessed that he is ok. Please make sure all your dressers are bolted and secured to the wall. Please share.” Since the accident Brock and Bowdy’s parents have bolted the dresser to the wall and attached child safety latches on the drawers.
