Makes: 1 Pie
Description: Heaven in your mouth. Kids loved shaping the Cinnamon roll strips on the top. Kids loved the taste. Perfect for the busy family that still enjoys cooking together. Great harvest time dessert, could be fancy enough for thanksgiving dinner.
Ingredients:
5
Green apples, cut in large pieces, not peeled
1/2 stick
Butter
1/2 cup
Water
3/4 cup
Brown Sugar
1 Pkg
Pillsbury Caramel Cinnamon Rolls-Divided
1 Tablespoon
Flour
Instructions:
Pre-heat oven to 325 Degrees.
Cut apples in slices and halve the slices again, leave peel on.
Put sliced apples in a large Dutch Oven (Noodle Boiling Pan) and add Flour, Water, Butter and Brown Sugar-boil till apples are tender, not to the point of apple sauce-remove from heat.
Unroll 1/2 package Cinnamon roll dough, swirl and stretch strips to line bottom of pan and tap down with fingers, bake for 5 mins.
Remove semi baked crust from oven, spread apple mixture evenly over bottom crust, use remaining rolls to make decorative top- tap down with fingers.
Bake for 30 mins or until top is golden brown.
Immediately upon removal add the packaged Carmel topping to the tops of the pie and let it melt over the top, like a glaze.
Serve warm, with vanilla ice cream.
Pecans or Walnuts are a good additive.
