Did you know that nearly 1 in 5 girls have missed school because they can’t afford period protection? It’s not just school they miss. It also means missing out on activities they love, like sports practices, drama club, or student council.
At puberty, girls’ confidence plummets, and having to miss activities because of lack of access to period products only makes this drop in confidence worse. Missing out can limit a girl’s potential and opportunities far beyond puberty.
We’re so excited to support Always & Walmart's Live #LikeAGirl campaign to spread the word about this important issue as they work to #EndPeriodPoverty. Always and Walmart are donating a year’s supply of period products to 50 teams in 50 states, so girls in need don’t have to miss out on the activities they love because they don’t have access to period protection.

I love this! A period shouldn't prevent a girl from enjoying activities.
Thank you for sharing. I had no idea this was an issue. I was poor growing up but always had just what I needed. I'm going to make it a mission to do my part to help these girls in the future.
very helpful information
girl power is being informed and compassionate
thank you Walmart for giving back
wow this is so nice to see walmart giving back amen
Shocked never realized this was such a huge problem
This was all new to me. My family was not well off but my mom always made sure I had pads. Back then it was sanitary belts and pads. They have sure come a long way.
Thank you for helping all the girls.
Great initiative!!!!
I think it is about time something like this was made. We always worry so much about poverty in other countries and I know we need to, but there is still a lot of poverty right here that should be dealt with first! We must take care of our own before worrying about others. Schools most importantly need to offer these for free it needs to be a government grant instead of having them to purchase they get them free. A female guidance counselor or teacher needs to distribute them.
This is a program that I wish would have been available to me when I was a young girl! I was one of the girls that had to stand on the sidelines every once in a while when money was tight and we barely had enough money to even keep a roof over our heads. There but by the grace of God goes I!!! This is such a fabulous campaign and I don't think that those who have never had to experience this type of humiliation can comprehend. When we already struggle with self esteem issues at this age, throwing something like not having money for essentials can make life pretty rough!!
It shouldn't be like this for young girls. Empower them!
Very important for young girls to have these necessary items-they are the basics.
Thank you so much, Walmart for your help!
