I have cats, not kids. But we tell them when we leave the house that we have to go to work to earn money for their kibble. Does that count as the money talk? LOL

We make it a point to discuss finances with our children. Our oldest even takes a personal finance elective in middle school!

Yes, you have to start early with the kids so that they can learn about money. That way they don't think that it grows on trees and they can have everything right now no matter the cost. My daughter learned about saving her allowance for things she really wanted at an early age.

Yes and he started an IRA when he was 16. He is now 21 and debt free because we opened a 529 plan for him for college and he worked summers to pay for gas and books. He knows if he wants something then he must earn it. He will also decide if he REALLY wants something based on how many hours he would have to work for it.

To be honest, the only money talk we've done is when she learned which coin is which and which dollar is which. This would be pretty awesome.

Have talked about money extensively with my 12 year old son. However, probably not approached things the best way. I NEED THIS BOOK!
