For some of us, our guilty pleasure may be yoga, dinner with the girls, a mani/pedi, or that glass of wine at the end of the day. For others, it's the magic that can happen in the kitchen. It's the chance to escape the chaos that can consume us, and lose ourselves in creating something mouthwateringly delicious. Sometimes it may be breakfast, lunch or dinner. And sometimes, it's the sinful ingredients that can combine to produce simply divine desserts.
For Julie Grice, "When I’m feeling down and uninspired, I settle into the cooking section of the local library, flipping through cookbook after cookbook for recipe ideas . . . I just posted my review for the tried-and-true classic Better Homes and Gardens cookbook.
Any cookbook or recipe from Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa) is always a sure bet. She's my go to when I'm entertaining or looking for a new recipe to try. Most recipes are pretty simple and yet the result is something that looks like a professional made.
I have the Food NetWorK Star (Paula Deens Cookbook) I absolutely love it. I'M always looking in that book. It Has Breaksfast, Lunch, Dinner and even Holidays Recipes. Her mouth watering step by step recipes are Easy to follow and Very Delicious.
Table for One by Camille Funk has been a staple in my tiny, Manhattan Kitchen. As someone who loves cooking, it was hard scaling down my favorite recipes to fit me when I moved out of my family's home (not to mention the amount of leftovers was down right depressing!). Table for One has delicious meals that make me feel at home with beautiful desserts to go alongside. My favorite part is that in the back of the book, Camille Funk lists ingredients and then recipes that go along with it. That way when you buy a bunch of cilantro, you aren't left with it going spoiled in your fridge after you whip up your meal. You can find other meals that utilize those same ingredients!
Just submitted a review of one of my favorite books. Great giveaway. There are a few on that list that have been on my to-buy list!
I have a copy of The Betty Crocker Cookbook that my father gave me when I was 12. He was my cooking inspiration years ago. This cookbook is barely hanging onto it's cover at this point. But I refer back to it all the time for some timeless old fashion classics. Some of the pages are stained with ingredients from recipes over the last 30 years, but is still my go to reference guide for some of the recipes I am now teaching my grandkids. I would highly recommend this cookbook to any first time cook.
I have had the Joy Of Cooking hard and paperback for many years now. I am allways finding mysely with my nose burried in it for one reason or another. It has some of the most delicious recipes I have ever made. They are easy and accurate. The also give great directions as to how to do things that are difficult. It's a timeless classic!
Flat Belly Diet Cookbook is one of my favorites
I got the America's test Kitchen Binder as an engagement gift and I still use it ALL the time!! It has all the classic home recipes and explains how to choose the best brand ingredients, how to adjust the yield, how to know if something is cooked properly. It's a really helpful go-to cook book.
