Salvage That Perfect Pair Of Jeans

For many of us, the perfect pair of jeans may only come once or twice in a lifetime.  You know the ones, they fit like a glove and make you feel like a million bucks every time you wear them.  That’s why it’s always so difficult to toss them when they have become torn or just plain worn out.  Fortunately, you may be able to keep them out of the trash a little longer.

Denim Therapy is a service that is gaining popularity among those that want to hold onto their favorite pair of jeans as long as possible.  This may be especially helpful to those who spend lots of money on designer jeans and want a quick and affordable fix.  Denim Therapy repairs the damaged jeans they receive from their customers and ships them back with a typical turn around of about two weeks.

The service takes care of every problem from tears to broken zippers to belt loop stitching.  And they don’t just throw a patch over it.  They match the color exactly before applying new cotton thread to the damaged area.  According to the Denim Therapy website, the typical cost of repairing a pair of jeans is about $7 an inch which, depending on the size of the damage, can be relatively inexpensive as compared to buying a new pair.

And there’s some good news for expectant moms.  You may not have to rush out and get yourself brand new maternity jeans.  Denim Therapy has a new service that takes your old jeans and inserts expandable side inseams to allow for your growing baby bump.  And they will even take the inseams back out and restore the jeans to their original state after the baby is born and you slim down to your original shape.

What do you think of Denim Therapy?

Do you think this is a service you would consider using on your favorite pair of jeans?

This sounds like an awesome, and valuable, service for expecting moms! I'd sure try it, at least once.

I don't think this would be very handy for me. I usually buy more inexpensive clothes and 7$ and inch.. That seems pretty steep to my cheap mind.

I know that I would not use it. Besides a lot of woman are buying jeans that are already ripped or torn, that is the style going around now. As for the zipper, I can fix myself. The belt looping is different also because I do not wear belts in the loops, I wear them more on the outside because it is more of an accessory for me.

the problem with me is that its $7 an inch? an inch isn't that much...so if there was a rip? then its probably going to be around $14 to mend...no rips i have seen in jeans were less then 1 inch. its hard to find a pair of jeans to fit me since i am tall and don't have enough curves to fit in others. but when i find one that fits, i would buy 2-3 pairs of either the same pair but different color. I am so glad i did, because they were on sale, $35 bucks a pop and went discontinued!

The average cost of my jeans in 25.00, so this wouldnt be cost effective. I've never gotten holes like that - what would be more useful is a place that could hem or "tailor" the jeans to your specifications.

I don't buy expensive jeans so it wouldn't be useful to me,but I'll pass this info on to my sister.

It sounds like a good idea, but a little bit expensive for me. I don't personally know how to fix jeans like that, but I have some friends who would be more than willing to if I needed their assistance. Like Stefaniek99, I don't spend more than $20 on a pair either. So for people like us who don't spend much, it would be a waste of money.

this would be great if you do not sew , and not crafty. myself i wear my jeans til they completely fall apart, and cannot be mended, I LOVE the distressed and ragged look of jeans even though I am 54 years old.

This sounds like a service that's worth if if you buy $200 jeans, but if you're like me and don't spend more than $20 on a pair, it's doesn't make sense.

sounds like a wonderful idea for people that can not fix their own jeans or simply do not have the time

I think it is a nice idea, but not one I would ever use. I'm not that partial about my jeans. I seem to always find a brand available at a decent price that has a style of jean that makes me feel awesome.
