I haven't really noticed an economic slowdown. I read in Forbes that my city was the #1 not effected by the current economy. I'm unsure why, but we are definitely thriving and growing more than ever. (Oklahoma City)

I usually fly somewhere once a year and roadtrip/camp locally the rest of the summer. Either way, fuel prices have really put a dent in our plans. There will be no fly-outs this year and road trips will be fewer, but probably farther.

This year we are going to rent a cabin by a lake that is only about a 20 minute drive from where we live. No way can we afford to fuel up the RV and take it up north further taking our time coming home like we usually do.

We are broke and don't have any plans as of now. I would like to take my son to FL to see the backyardagins, my Aunt lives down there so all we have to do is drive and stay! I also drive an Aveo so that is not so bad on gas. And we never do anything so I don't see a problem with this!

We already booked a one week vacation trip to tennessee. We will be able to save money for hotel accommodation because of my sister-in-law's timeshare.

For Memorial Day weekend, my family and I would usually take a road trip. We would drive to Branson, or Dallas, or San Antonio, and just enjoy a festive, different city for a few days. With the cost of gas, and the effect it has had on our savings and the added cost on taking a road trip, it was just too depressing. You take a trip or vacation to forget about your worries, not worry the whole time about how much gas costs.

We're not going anywhere, but maybe that's not such a bad thing. I think it will force us to rediscover the local gems and hotspots that often go overlooked. And it will pump much-needed money back into our local economy.
