We hear more and more about gluten free diets. I've read in books that gluten could be a "toxic" source for young children? Please explain. Thanks. _________________________________________________________________ what contains gluten wheat

It took me a minute but I found it. I really like how this lady explains the recent phenomena of Gluten Intolerance, http://thebreadgeek.blogspot.com/2012/12/gluten-free-right-way.html. Tons of great info here also, http://celiac.nih.gov/prevalence.aspx. Both of these sites explain how mood and behavior can be affected in children with gluten sensitivities/intolerances/alergies. I like how both articles explain the increasing prevelence of celiac. As for being a general "toxic" sourse for young children, I can only find how that would be true for those with sensitivities. I would double check any references for that claim.

Gluten isn't bad for people in general but it can do a real number on you of you have an intolerance, this is extra hard on children since they usually can't vocalize what is going on and since one of the symptoms of gluten intolerance is craving it because the way that your body reacts to it if you are intolerant often creates an addiction cycle just like nicotine or opiates.

My cousin has gluten intolerance, she found it out when she was 12 and she never had her first period. She has a strong intolerance, her intestine was ruined but now she is good =) but she had to eliminate every gluten source from her diet. I cook for her delicious cakes and sweets, obviously everything is gluten free =)

I never had really thought I had a gluten problem then I basically went 90% paleo which eleminates breads and gluten and stuff and I cannot tell you how much better I feel I have way more energy my body feels better i can work out easier everything I don't know if I had a intolerance at all I am assuming I did not but I still feel way better with out it! I do think it is better for me now to not have it!( But I don't know about everyone.my kids personally wouldn't go gluten free just cold turkey we are working on just healthy eating till they are older! They don't have any sensitivities or allergies yet tho)

I remember when Miley Cyrus posted on twitter that being gluten and lactose free is the best way, and a dietician said that if you aren't gluten sensitive/allergic/intolerant to not eliminate gluten from your diet. However, my brother-in-law is gluten intolerant and he gets very sick when even eating it. :( it's in everything! They use it to thicken things up.

I went paleo about a year ago and have noticed a complete change. I've noticed significant changes in the quality of sleep I get, a little bit of weight loss, significantly less stomach issues and overall less inflammation throughout my entire body. There have been a few occasions where I have succumb to temptation and had food with gluten only to regret it later. My dentist noticed that my teeth and gums (which were pretty healthy in the first place) were in even better condition at my last cleaning. We attribute it to cutting out the gluten. Just realize that if you try it, it is very difficult to go back to the standard American Diet.

How does one know if they are gluten intolerant? I've seen and heard so many people who are cutting gluten out. I never really understood it. I guess I'll have to do some research on this too.

The AMTROL High Performance Pressurizer® is a true whole house pressure boosting system. The units are pre-assembled with a low-suction cutoff, thermal overload protection and built-in junction box. The Pressurizer includes a properly sized pressure tank to reduce pump cycling. This decreases power consumption while drastically improving motor life. Unlike small in-line models, this pressure tank provides additional water storage to meet peak water demands while improving efficiency. ro storage tanks

My doctor put me on a gluten free diet because the inflammation in my body is very high. In fact, so high she said she didn't know how I was able to walk. After being on the diet for quite some months and being hungry all the time and no change in the inflammation level, I went off the diet. I couldn't tell that I felt any different when I was on the diet than when I was off it except being constantly hungry when I was on it and I only lost a few pounds which to me amounted to nothing.
