Could somebody teach a Lady to begin, from scratch how to cross stitch? I really want to learn, can you help me out, please? Thank you in advance!

I started cross-stiching a couple months ago and have found it to be amazingly easy and relaxing! I'm not ready to venture out into making my own patterns or using a diagram and a blank canvas yet. I still use the beginner's kits available at Hobby Lobby. :)

You can purchase a computer program which will transfer any photo or drawing into a cross stitch pattern. I find counted cross stitch much easier than stamped which is more difficult to determine the color to use. You can also find free cross stitch patterns on the web, and pick up threads and material at the craft store. Pretty soon you will have collected all the colors, and several books and pamphlets of patterns.

I love cross-stitching! I'm 23 and have been doing it since I was 10! It's really easy to get started. Find a really basic pattern- usually the smaller sized cross stitches are the simplest to make! Try one of those- and be ready to make a few mistakes the first time! It won't be perfect, but that's what I love about doing them- they look unique especially if there are a few tiny flaws. After that one, it's easy to work your way up to a bigger size!
