Find The Lingerie That Makes You Feel Sexy
In daylight, spanx are a girl’s best friend. But when you slip off that pencil skirt and turn in for the evening, you’ll want something comfortable and alluring - that means lingerie that plays to your assets, and hides the less-than-perfect. You don’t have to wait to lose weight or tone up to look and feel great in lingerie. We’ve got some suggestions for your body type below.
Even Out A Pear Shape
To camouflage a larger bottom half, we love short robes and A-line chemises; a robe’s playful silhouette flows over hips and thighs, but you can keep the hemline well above the knee for a flirty feel.
When shopping for sexy chemises, look for designs that have a seam just below the bust, and that flow out - don’t cling - from there. They’ll glide over your bottom, but will highlight your shoulders and decollate beautifully.
Hide a Tummy
For the ultimate in comfortable-sexy, don’t underestimate the power of a tee that hides your tummy, paired with a cute pair of boy shorts.
The same sort of chemise that works to balance a pear shape can also work with a larger middle - better yet, look for a miniskirt length, and a bodice with no seams at all, that hangs straight down from the neckline.
Flatter a Large Bust
It’s tough to find the best bras for big breasts. For sexy options that you’ll actually want to show off, we recommend three fantastic brands: Freya, Fantasie, and Le Mystere, all of which carry cup sizes up to F (some styles go up to H).
For a bra you can wear under dresses and sweaters, too, look for a thick strap for support, and a balcony cup with thicker fabric on the bottom half, to supplement a lacy or more gossamer upper cup.
What is your favorite piece of lingerie?
@ PennStateCutie: I totally agree! I think us small-chested girls are often overlooked in the lingerie department. Hence my preference for comfy sweats!
I really like the piece of white lingerie shown above. Does anyone know who makes it?
to those having a hard time with spanx...try buying the high waisted kind. I have always had a problem with regular hose rolling down on me. The spanx seem to sit in a much more comfortable spot, without the rolling. These really seem to do the trick...and keep me warmer! Although, it does take a bit more tugging to get them on...but thank goodness for the double gusset, once they are on, they don't come off! Tee hee!
I've had the same problem with Spanx, they seem to roll-up and creat an extra bump. Should I buy a smaller size or bigger size? Help!!!!
I'm not a spanx fan. They push my tummy out to make me look pregnant. I stick to stuff with boning. As for the lingerie- great link. Thank you.
hmm about to get married. i think this was extremely useful
Ok, sorry to be annoyed, but it bugs me that there is nothing listed for smaller chested women. IMO, we've got the toughest problem of all!
To lisaspeaks, I have the same problem with pantyhose and Spanx. I try to only wear these when I have a waistband on the pants or skirts that can hold them up. The looser the waistband on the outer item, the more rolling I see. My answer is to avoid pantyhose altogether in favor of flattering pants!
Has anyone had a problem with Spanx? I got a pair and they seem to roll down...maybe I got the wrong size, but then again, this happens with pantyhose, too. The waist band does not stay up and I spend all my time pulling the things up. I like to wear minimizer bras...does anyone know of a sexy one?
I love all types of lingerie....there's nothing that makes a woman feel more sexy than that! I love my curves; they are a part of who I am! I embrace them and am proud to show them off in a sexy manner! Bras, panties, chemises, negligees, stockings and garters...I love them !!!
I love this article, I think I'll print it and leave it where my husband can see it. Maybe I'll stop getting those goddy little things he thinks are cute :)
