Years ago, when in college, I was undergoing a series of physical and emotional health issues and very much wanted to give up on my school endeavors, however, coupled with the support of both my mom and sister, I was able to successfully persist and complete college. Without their love, support and encouragement, I'm not sure I would have been able to complete my studies, but they helped me to see my strengths and believe in myself and all I could accomplish.

One of my best friends recently shared that her family had a caught a bad virus and everyone was sick. I cooked a delicious pot of chicken soup, picked up some over the counter meds, and prepared a small gift basket of self care items for her that included face masks, lavender lotion, and luxurious body wash. I brought it over to her house and left the goodies on the doorstep for them. Everyone was so thankful!

My sister made a big move. She drove herself to Florida from NY by herself. She packed all her belongings and took the road trip alone. I was on the phone with her the entire time. She did take rest breaks. It was such a brave thing to do and tried to encourage her the entire way. We both prayed and she made it safely.

I remember when my mom hesitated about creating an Amazon wish list for her classroom because she didn't want to ask for help. She’s a dedicated teacher at Williamson High School and always puts her students first. I encouraged her to go for it, reminding her how many people would love to support her and her students. Seeing her excitement when her list started getting fulfilled was such a rewarding moment. Sometimes, a little encouragement goes a long way!

When my son’s father passed away my friend made a ton of efforts to make sure I was okay! She took me out to dinner and just let me talk about him and what I needed to say. Sometimes you just need an ear to talk to. It meant a lot that they cared about my emotional well-being.
