You Can Still Enter the Valentine's Day Giveaway!

What do you think Valentine's Day is really about? Our SheSpeaks members have overwhelmingly told us that it's really just a reminder to say "I love you." That's more important than a romantic grand gesture. And even more important than an excuse to break a diet.

Say "I love you" with more than just heart chocolates and red roses! Check out these new ways to show the special people in your life how much you really care. Plus, win $75 to use on someone you love (including yourself.)

Instead of chocolate...

Do a tasting of favorite foods or drinks! If your partner loves craft beers, get a selection of local beers with some small tasting glasses. Sample them to find both of your favorites. If your kids love mint chocolate chip ice cream, have a sundae party by buying a variety of brands and see which one they like the best. The possibilities of foods to taste and drinks to sample are endless. Tastings are a unique way to show the people YOU love that you care about the things THEY love. (And if you really need chocolate on Valentine's Day, at least make it fun with a chocolate tasting!)

Instead of flowers...

Get an herb bouquet! Move beyond roses to something that will last longer and make your dinner taste delicious. According to PureWow, beautiful pots filled with plants such as rosemary, lavender, mint, chamomile and sage are the latest trend. Visit a local nursery to put it together yourself, or buy it already assembled. It's a different way to give flowers, and your recipient will remember it and think of you throughout the year.

Instead of jewelry...

Pick a class you can do together. Think about something your Valentine has always wanted to learn how to do, like decorate a cake, try rock climbing, or speak Chinese. Whatever it is, choose the class together. Then look around your area. Clases can be found at local colleges, community centers, museums, or even neighborhood shops. Plan a day and make it happen. You'll not only learn something, but it's a great bonding experience.

Instead of dinner out...

Spend the day in your Pjs! This is fun for you to do with your partner, your family, your friends, or even on your own. Get cozy and binge-watch some movies, play board games, or snuggle with a good book. Eat candy for lunch and order in dinner. Just enjoy your time doing very little.

How will you show someone you love them this Valentine's Day? Tell us for the chance to win $75 to use on someone you love - including yourself!

With two kids and a dog, Valentine's is a family affair. I plan for a family activity during the day. A special dinner at home (steak and crab legs?). Followed by movie night.

I plan on making a "Sticky Note Heart" on the bathroom mirror. Each sticky will say something I love about my significant other. He's definitely a sentiment person rather than a "thing" person, so I think he will love it.

Hubby and I plan on cuddling on the couch and watching 9-1-1 which is about dates gone wrong and mishaps relating to love. The show is serious but it looks like there is some humor too. We might do sushi but not sure...depends on our mood. Valentine's Day on a Wednesday is a bummer.
