What do you think Valentine's Day is really about? Our SheSpeaks members have overwhelmingly told us that it's really just a reminder to say "I love you." That's more important than a romantic grand gesture. And even more important than an excuse to break a diet.
Say "I love you" with more than just heart chocolates and red roses! Check out these new ways to show the special people in your life how much you really care. Plus, win $75 to use on someone you love (including yourself.)
Do a tasting of favorite foods or drinks! If your partner loves craft beers, get a selection of local beers with some small tasting glasses. Sample them to find both of your favorites. If your kids love mint chocolate chip ice cream, have a sundae party by buying a variety of brands and see which one they like the best. The possibilities of foods to taste and drinks to sample are endless. Tastings are a unique way to show the people YOU love that you care about the things THEY love. (And if you really need chocolate on Valentine's Day, at least make it fun with a chocolate tasting!)
Get an herb bouquet! Move beyond roses to something that will last longer and make your dinner taste delicious. According to PureWow, beautiful pots filled with plants such as rosemary, lavender, mint, chamomile and sage are the latest trend. Visit a local nursery to put it together yourself, or buy it already assembled. It's a different way to give flowers, and your recipient will remember it and think of you throughout the year.
Pick a class you can do together. Think about something your Valentine has always wanted to learn how to do, like decorate a cake, try rock climbing, or speak Chinese. Whatever it is, choose the class together. Then look around your area. Clases can be found at local colleges, community centers, museums, or even neighborhood shops. Plan a day and make it happen. You'll not only learn something, but it's a great bonding experience.
Spend the day in your Pjs! This is fun for you to do with your partner, your family, your friends, or even on your own. Get cozy and binge-watch some movies, play board games, or snuggle with a good book. Eat candy for lunch and order in dinner. Just enjoy your time doing very little.

Sharing your love to the one you love
I'll be making some chocolate covered strawberries with a nice lunch included and will give my sweetie a gift of his favorite nuts, which are pistachios, I'm also including something I just found at the supermarket, it's a snack pack of Pomegranate flavored Pistachios made by SAHALE. I've already tried one and they are delicious and come in a variety of flavors.
I buy my Valentine's candy (my kids!) :) It makes them (and me) happy!
I will be making a nice dinner with wine and dessert and I'm buying my husband a new cologne and getting my kids some little gifts.
I hug them and tell them how much they mean to me. It is the most sincere form of affection.
We will likely exchange cards and small gifts (e.g. candy) at a dinner table decorated with our Valentine's heart-shaped placemats and make a chocolate-raspberry dessert.
I would take my loved ones out for dinner.
I make Valentine's Day special by serving my sweetheart's favorite foods and giving him all my time and attention.
I will make a special candlelight dinner for my family.
I will make my husband's favorite dinner - a surefire way to show my love!
Bake a sweet treat!
During the day my husband and I go to lunch while the kids are at school but in the evening we do something special for them as well. We buy them a little candy, and have pretty cookies or cupcakes with dinner.
take them out for lunch
Have no idea what I will do for Hubby- he does not really care about Valentines day- he will pick up candy the next day at 50% off which is fine. I will be baking heart shaped cakes for the triplets to decorate- they love it and it will keep them busy for at least a half hour.
