What do you think Valentine's Day is really about? Our SheSpeaks members have overwhelmingly told us that it's really just a reminder to say "I love you." That's more important than a romantic grand gesture. And even more important than an excuse to break a diet.
Say "I love you" with more than just heart chocolates and red roses! Check out these new ways to show the special people in your life how much you really care. Plus, win $75 to use on someone you love (including yourself.)
Do a tasting of favorite foods or drinks! If your partner loves craft beers, get a selection of local beers with some small tasting glasses. Sample them to find both of your favorites. If your kids love mint chocolate chip ice cream, have a sundae party by buying a variety of brands and see which one they like the best. The possibilities of foods to taste and drinks to sample are endless. Tastings are a unique way to show the people YOU love that you care about the things THEY love. (And if you really need chocolate on Valentine's Day, at least make it fun with a chocolate tasting!)
Get an herb bouquet! Move beyond roses to something that will last longer and make your dinner taste delicious. According to PureWow, beautiful pots filled with plants such as rosemary, lavender, mint, chamomile and sage are the latest trend. Visit a local nursery to put it together yourself, or buy it already assembled. It's a different way to give flowers, and your recipient will remember it and think of you throughout the year.
Pick a class you can do together. Think about something your Valentine has always wanted to learn how to do, like decorate a cake, try rock climbing, or speak Chinese. Whatever it is, choose the class together. Then look around your area. Clases can be found at local colleges, community centers, museums, or even neighborhood shops. Plan a day and make it happen. You'll not only learn something, but it's a great bonding experience.
Spend the day in your Pjs! This is fun for you to do with your partner, your family, your friends, or even on your own. Get cozy and binge-watch some movies, play board games, or snuggle with a good book. Eat candy for lunch and order in dinner. Just enjoy your time doing very little.

I clean the house real good so hubby can come home to an extra nice clean house. I fix dinner, nothing fancy and then just cuddle on the couch watching a movie. We don't usually go out on Valentines Day due to traffic and long waits at the restaurants. Ain't nobody got time for that! ^_^

Valentines Day happens to be MY birthday so the tables are turned and my husband tries to make the day special for ME! After 32 years of marriage, he has done so many things but mostly we just like to spend a weekend away and spend time together. Couples time is the best ever! Time together is precious! I try to send him flowers to his office each year to tell him I'd marry him again all over :)
