My daughter is excited about school the week BEFORE it starts! I take advantage of this by picking out the first-week outfits then. I bundle them together with a bright ribbon and we don't have to add the layer of picking out clothes to the already hectic time of getting back into the school routine. Additionally, it's like a little gift every morning when she can "unwrap" the outfit.
Making sure snacks or lunches are packed the night before r, making sure clothes are laid out and ready to go.
color coordinating each subject. also doing a dry run once the kids get schedules.
We use the school website to snag the list from our teachers. It helps streamline the back to school shopping.
Check the list from school make sure everything is in back pack.
Talk to the teacher first. The lists are usually compiled in the spring by a team of teachers. Your child's teacher may not really want everything on the list.
I have 2 teenagers, so I am prepared to have them tell me that the teachers want something that's not on the school list-it happens every year!
Set back up alarm clocks, just in case.
Practice getting up a week before you actually have to!
We double check what we have on hand and then go buy what we need. If it is a real good sale than I buy it for future use and donate it too.
Let the kids pick their own school supplies.
Going shopping a month or so early
The best way for me is to get the kids involved in the preparations so they are invested and excited and ready to launch for the year.
Being prepared and staying organized. I hit the stores as soon as supplies go on sale so I can get everything on my three kids' lists and all of the supplies for my own classroom. I'm a list person so that is helpful to me as well.
Shop when the school supply sales start in July. Good prices, and not as much of a chance of items being sold out.
