I set up a "drop off" station at home by the front door. Everyone drops their bags there and then brings the lunch boxes to the kitchen. Routine is the best way to stay on track.
Don't have kids.
Always get ready the night before so mornings are a breeze.
I will prepare in advance so no surprises in the future!
I share my calendar with my kids now so they can see what activities they have going on each day. They can prepare themselves and don't have to ask me questions about the schedule.
Try to spread out the preparation throughout the summer so you're not scrambling in August!
I don't have kids so I don't have to deal with any of this, but we do donate supplies to our local districts to help offset some of the cost teachers incur.
A tip for making back to school go smoothly: make sure you mark your backpack, coat, school supplies, etc with your child's name . If an item is misplaced at school, it can be returned to your child.
I wish I had tips! My daughter is going into second grade. And while so many people in my life are suggesting buying everything online, i super like actually going into stores for things. I am *TRYING* to get her back into sleep habits. we are going to aim to do more meal/snack planning and outfit planning so we run into less "BUT I DON'T WANT TO WEAR THAT."
Start ahead of time getting the kids in a normal sleep schedule. Also have them help pack their backpack.
make a check-list and go thru it over and over to make sure nothing is missing
Prepare lunches at night
Some of my best tips for the back-to-school from when I attended school, is to prep the night before! Nothing makes the mornings go easier than knowing everything (breakfast, lunch, supplies) are all packed and ready to go! It is a big stress reliever and lets me focus on other tasks.
I usually look for sales throughout the year and stock up for things that are always used rather than waiting for school to start.
To make it a little smoother, I start weeks in advance with BTS shopping - clothes, shoes, school supplies. Closer to the day, I pack everything in backpacks, double-check school lists. Night before, I pack lunch, double-check backpack, check lists once again. Essentially, it's the double- and -triple-checking that makes everything go more smoothly :-)
