My kids are counting down to the end of the school year. They dream of long days playing outside, swimming in the pool, and yes, lots of Xbox.
I look forward to three months without fights over homework or permission slips to sign. But I also dread long days with my kids just staring at screens and whining, "Mommy, I'm bored."
Which is why we need to work together. Calling all SheSpeaks moms, grandmas or anyone who has ever been a kid themselves!
Share ways to keep kids busy over the summer. They can be big plans or little projects. They can be for big kids or little ones. All ideas will help! Anyone who gives a suggestion will be entered to win a set of 5 Outdoor Games, perfect to occupy your kids' time.

My son loves the outdoors, so we do a lot of park trips, swimming in our pool, and a bunch of little outdoor activities like horse back riding, water park, basebsll games, etc. He is happy with the fun, low cost adventures that we plan each year.

A great indoor activity for a younger child is putting dried rice or beans in a box and using a bunch of cups and spoons to play around and have fun. Though it can be a tad messy, it stimulates fine motor and tactile skills.

We have alot of cookouts at home. Pool parties, we play outdoor family games and invite our neighbors to join in. With our 4 kids and their friends....there are always a ton of kids at our house over summer vacation

I am currently waiting on the big delivery truck to deliver our huge above ground pool!!! I did not want the expense of an in ground pool (gotta save for college you know), so we did the next best thing an ordered the biggest above ground pool we could find!! Talk about the savings. Fun for the entire break. We are also in the process of setting up an outdoor theater. All for pennies on the dollar (we are doing everything). And yes we have the twins set up for the traditional camps, but they are expensive, so we decided to get the pool for those weeks they are not in camp!!! Good Luck moms!!!!

My youngest is 12 and instead of staying home all summer by himself, I'm signing him up for anything I can find, including 3 weeks of camp and the youth police academy!
