My kids are counting down to the end of the school year. They dream of long days playing outside, swimming in the pool, and yes, lots of Xbox.
I look forward to three months without fights over homework or permission slips to sign. But I also dread long days with my kids just staring at screens and whining, "Mommy, I'm bored."
Which is why we need to work together. Calling all SheSpeaks moms, grandmas or anyone who has ever been a kid themselves!
Share ways to keep kids busy over the summer. They can be big plans or little projects. They can be for big kids or little ones. All ideas will help! Anyone who gives a suggestion will be entered to win a set of 5 Outdoor Games, perfect to occupy your kids' time.
Comment below! Give us an idea you have for filling up those long summer days.

"My summer vacations as a kid were pretty standard - I went to our town's "summer rec" program that had swimming lessons, tennis lessons, and arts & crafts. Lots of boondoggle lanyard making." - Emily
"My 15- year old is most likely watching entirely too much Netflix! She will take a week to do a service trip with her youth group. " - Missy
"We bought a kids cookbook and my kids looked through it. We're going to try to make a new recipe each week." - Susan
"My sister has her kids on a schedule so it's similar to school (they are 4 & 6). She has time slotted for coloring, writing/reading, outdoor chores, meals and snacks, and 1 day a week adventures (pool, zoo, etc). Also they are doing swim lessons. " - Lori

When my kids were little, we would go to the parks and enjoy some of their programs. We learned a lot about nature and had fun doing it.
We play games, go for long walks, pick fruits and vege's from the garden.
My kids play for hours at the splash pad and drawing with chalk!
Our local library has a free reading challenge, and programs on Tuesday and Thursday morning all summer long! Plus, FREE Bowling, and Kids Skate on Tuesdays in our county. We also love our community pool.
I like to find all the fun, free activities for the summer such as the community pool, the zoo, parks, festivals and beaches nearby. It could even be a simple hike, finding pieces of nature to create a scrapbook afterwards, or creating and doing a scavenger hunt in the backyard!:)
I will be thrift store shopping and heading to the library
With boating and fishing and gardening. Last few days we have had rain so The Walking Dead Marathon ensues.
Taking my hammock to the park!
I love spending time by the pool with the kids on our summer days. Grilling out, swimming, and just spending time together is the perfect day!
I also agree with the summer reading program at the library. That's always been one of my favorite ways to spend a summer.
Our town has started the inspiration rocks. So we are painting and hiding rocks as well as finding rocks.
We relax on schedule because being a teacher, I want my nights to be longer. I signed up the kids to Michaels' Camp Creativity every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Afternoons are for long strolls around the neighborhood or bike ride. We spend most of the day in the pool and if all else fails, amazon fire comes to the rescue.
