There have been hints of a comeback in recent years but now it is official. The 1980's is the lastest fashion trend.
Yes, the 80's are back - think shoulder pads, leg warmers and Madonna cassette tapes. But whether you lived through it before, or you were not around to be a witness, there are several ways you can get into the style, without going over the top. Read on to find out how.

Embrace it: Customized Demin Jackets
Demin jackets, especially acid washed, were all the rage. And to make them even more personal, they were lovingly decorated with patches and spray paint. Luckily, personal style is also big in 2017. Feel free to rock your denim jacket - and even add a little bling.

Avoid it: Stirrup Pants
Leggings are fine, but not the kind that has a strap that slips beneath your foot. No reason for your pants to get tucked in to your high-tops anymore.
Embrace it: Neon and Sequins
In the '80s, brighter was better. It was important to attract attention and make a statement. We should follow that direction and not be afraid to shine! But this year, try keeping it to just one piece, and not the entire outfit.
Avoid it: Thick, Piled On Make-Up
Everything was more intense in the '80s, so it's no surprise that the make-up was too, especially the eye shadow which came in shades of blue, purple and pink - sometimes all of those colors at once. Brightly colored make-up is still used now, which is great, but this time it could be a little more blended and a lot more subtle.
Embrace it: Off the Shoulder Tops
Back then, we cut sweatshirts at just the right width, so that it could drape over one shoulder. Of course, a ton of plastic jewelry was then the perfect accessory. You can still wear dresses and shirts that have a fun off-the-shoulder look. Just try to avoid scissor marks and that mountain of jelly bracelets.
Avoid it: High, Permed, Rock-Hard Hair

I do miss neon and would like to see it make a comeback. We had a neon phase a few years ago, but it never got as dayglo bright as it got in the 80's. In the 80's it was a neon so bright that could actually improve your mood while you were looking at it. I'd like to see that come back. I don't want to see the high-waisted, peg-legged, pleated front jeans come back. Well, maybe the pleats, they hide a multitude of sins. But not the high waist with peg legs. That cut only looks good if you have stick thin thighs and no butt.

I'm so glad Zubaz are gone...I think. Unless jogger pants are taking their place. I want biking shorts under other shorts to make a come back. I am not a fan of short shorts, so hopefully capri's or bermuda shorts stay in style.

The block heel shoes!!! I no longer work & wear sneakers everyday but when I when I get dressed & have to wear shoes, I am uncomfortable. But if the shoe heel is larger than 1-1/2" and is blocked, no problem. I am also enjoying the wide leg pants. Skinny jeans on a big leg, large thighs & a healthy rear end, I feel like a sausage.
