When we found out that our SheSpeaks staffer Emily is pregnant and due in September, we just had to compare stories, grilling her about all the new ways social media has impacted the experience. Turns out that pregnancy itself has not changed since the dawn of civilization, but the way we handle it sure has: Gender-Reveal Parties! Birth Announcements on Facebook! Pregnancy Tracking Apps! We needed to know more...

Omg it has changed it so much. I had my daughter in 1999 and we didn't have apps or even Facebook for that matter...lol ... But that's when gender reveal parties started to become popular. Always trust you instinct
Enjoy the little things, it goes by so fast! Also, Kirkland Signature baby wipes are the absolute best, believe me, I've tried practically every brand there is!
You will never sleep the same so get as much sleep as you can now.
Winning this would help me to get a nice spa
Get a white noise machine and use it to train your baby to sleep!
Sharing every special moment from pregnancy to motherhood can now be shared via social media. In the past distant relatives had to wait to see the baby as they had to travel or wait for the mail to arrive. Now you can have instant access to family & friends without travelling by using the internet. Best and easiest way to share. Plus you can get tips and answers to any question online too.
Don't take anything personally. Everyone will have suggestions that end up sounding like veiled criticisms. You most likely have done the proper preparation (birth classes, reading books about birth and child rearing), and there are tons of resources available to help you raise your child your way.
Get a membership with a local same-day delivery service (Amazon Prime Now, Instacart, etc.) so that you can order diapers, coffee, chocolate, and other essentials when you unexpectedly run out and baby is not up for an outing.
I was always told to sleep when the baby sleeps and i thought that was very good advice. Congrats on you little one!! :)
When I first became a mom, changing out of Jammie's in the morning and putting on something nice really helped me mentally face the day when I was so tired. Opening the curtains and sitting in the sun to nurse was also a wonderful bonding time.
Get enough sleep now because once baby comes sleep is the thing of the past. Also, do not forget about you... you matter. Make dates with girlfriends or husband. Try to keep your identity. I personally have lost myself and am just finding myself again after 5 years. Just in time for #2 to arrive...
I'm gonna be a grammie any day now! I love having social media to keep in touch, as we are several states away from one-another.
Enjoy every minute, because it is gone in a flash. Pray for your children.
Social media is a great way to share your pregnancy, especially with friends and family far away
My husband posted an ultrasound picture on Facebook to say happy Mother's Day. That is how almost everyone found out, including my in-laws!
