When we found out that our SheSpeaks staffer Emily is pregnant and due in September, we just had to compare stories, grilling her about all the new ways social media has impacted the experience. Turns out that pregnancy itself has not changed since the dawn of civilization, but the way we handle it sure has: Gender-Reveal Parties! Birth Announcements on Facebook! Pregnancy Tracking Apps! We needed to know more...

My advice to a future mom would be to not use too much anti-bacterial stuff and worry about germs all the time! Your kids need to be around some germs to build an immunity to them. My parents never obsessed about germs, and I grew up with no allergies and I never get the flu (despite never getting flu shots either).
It gets better. All of it. It just gets better, so hang in there. The 2am (and 4am and 6am) feedings will pass, you will sleep again, and you will miss those quiet moments in the dark with the baby God has so graciously given you. -
I don't miss the aching back and all the rest that goes with being pregnant. lol. Hopefully I win!!
Well, I am an older mom with children, 1 grown up, 2 teenagers and 1 almost teen :D My advice for a future mom/young mom is: ENJOY!! Time for raising children seems forever but really too short!!!!! So, try NOT TO stressed out and enjoy :)
Everyone has an opinion and experience. Do what is best for you and your family and follow your instincts!
I am currently 7 months pregnant - at age 40 - with our 2nd child, our son is 16. My advice - enjoy every minute - even the tough parts - it goes by so quickly and they grow up so fast. Take time to stop and just let things be - don't try to make them walk or talk early - don't try to speed milestones up. They get there before you know it, let them be babies and enjoy it - you'll miss it when it's gone.
Remember to take care of you, too! I have 3 children, and I'm terrible at taking my own advice. I don't ask for help very often, and admit, I feel guilty when I need help, like I should be able to do it all. But you need YOU time as well, even if it's just taking 10 minutes to shower, or 5 to paint your toenails. Stay awake a half hour longer than everyone else in the house and spend it reading, relaxing, playing video games, whatever you need. Just remember to recharge yourself to be the best you can be.
I have never been pregnant- but I am a mom of a rambunctious fur baby! I also care for my handicapped and older hubby. Between the 2 and working 55 hours a week I'm exhausted!

For a new mom: Don't worry about the cute clothes. Ask for diapers and wipes in every size!
I posted a picture from my ultrasound on fb
Don't listen to all the horror stories, or what everyone says will happen. My 'baby" is 23 years old now, and when I had him everyone had their stories and was telling me all the horrible things that were going to happen.. and had I listened to them I'd have been terrified.
Always remember a baby is the greatest gift and savor every moment because they fly by before you know it
Get lots of sleep and have help from others.
Hold your baby as MUCH as possible!!
