I used to highlight my entire head, but could not keep up with the roots, so I went to a random local hairdresser and they added a darker color rinse to it...the entire thing ended up like a golden color with tons of highlights peeking thru...SO pretty! Have never been able to replicate and I wish I could!

Last June I had my hair highlighted to help hide my gray hairs. I got did two tones. I dark brown underneath and then on top - highlighted with blonde tones. My look matched how I felt after losing 64 lbs.
