There was a whole lotta dancin' in the streets this past Saturday as hoofers, poppers, tappers, ballerinas and beat boys of every stripe gathered to celebrate the art of dance throughout America for #NationalDanceDay.
This year the Dizzy Feet Foundation posted three instructional Everybody Dance routines on YouTube (an Advanced, a Beginner, and a Seated) to learn - and then partied it out with the crowd at events in cities coast to coast. The hashtag trended at #1 on Twitter throughout the day.
The goal of this National Holiday, passed by Congress in 2010, is to promote dance as part of a healthy active lifestyle. The Dizzy Feet Foundation was created by Nigel Lythgoe, reality TV producer and performing-arts advocate, to sponsor and support dance education programs.
Are you a fan of Nigel's other creation, the show So You Think You Can Dance? If so, do you have a favorite routine that has left you crying, screaming, or cheering from either a choreography that drew you in, or a personal story that reached you?
If so, tell us about any dance experience in the comments below - and you'll automatically be entered to win a pair of 14kt gold classic hoop earrings!
To get in the mood, here are a few of the show's award-winning works that cover the gamut from Bollywood, Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern Dance, Latin, Swing, Tango, Jive and then some - as they speak to our humanity.

Haven't seen it in a while but I like it. Too busy in the summer for TV
I have watched this show from the beginning and my all time favorite routine is the boardroom routine with the table playing a pivotal role in the dance. I am not so fond of this years show and have yet to form a favorite dancer as has happened in previous years so I have not been voting this year at all either.
I took 1 year ballet and 2 years tap as a kid
When our kids were 10 & 12, we joined a square dancing club. We danced as a family just for fun once a week for 2 years. My kids are now 27 & 29 and they still have fond memories of us dancing together.
I have never watched this show...I am not a fan of dancing shows at all, so I avoid them
OUTTA MY HEAD - Alex and Twitch wow can they dance
I took dance lessons as a child
Love this show. My favorite routine was "This Woman's Work" danced by Melissa and Ade, choreographed by Tyce Diorio. It was about a woman battling breast cancer. Chills.
I love bollywood dancing!
Fix You was awesome!!!!
I cant dance, so I enjoy watching people dancing.
Sounds fun!
im a single mom with 2 boys, 8 and 2 yrs old. we absolutely love this show. i love to dance and my son is into it too. he watches it to see the dance moves and to try to imitate them. he's always mezmerized by some of the moves and stunt type moves. its a show we watch together as a family, we discuss it and laugh. and we love it!
I do not personally dance except when I am cleaning (and its not site you all would want to see!) but I have always loved dancing as a child. This show allows me to continue to love dance without having to make a fool of myself. I personally loved the dance done by Neil and Lacey to the song, Time, as it makes me think of my father who passed away too early. This dance was so beautiful. All of the dancers are so talented and make it all look so easy and second-nature, but they are such strong athletes and really become actors and actresses as they try to get their story across to us. I love it!
i havent really watched the show but i wouldnt mind checking it out sometime, they make the dancing look so easy but you know thats alot of hard work
