Many people think their everyday actions are ordinary, and that the things they do every day can’t make a difference to help the environment. P&G believes the most effective changes don’t necessarily start with grand acts and can start much closer to home, by changing the way we think about things like waste.

Our members have told us that they:

  • “Reuse egg cartons to start new plants for our garden”
  • “Reuse jars to store odd supplies like, nails, nuts, and bolts”
  • “Use office paper for art, water plants with bathwater, compost, and have a small garden”

How to Enter:
Comment on this blog post and tell us one small step you could take tomorrow to help Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Or, tell us what your family already does!

Prizes:
Two lucky winners** will each win a $250 Amazon gift card.

We currently recycle, use reusable bags, and most eco-friendly cleaning products. My goal is to stop using *most* paper products (plates, paper towels) within the year.

I choose plastic grocery bags at the grocery store, so that I can reuse them as garbage bags for small garbage cans. The handles make them easier to carry, and they don't fall apart when wet. Using them also reduces the amount of money I spend on trash bags!

We recycle all of our paper and plastic thanks to our neighborhood giving us a huge trash can so that we can recycle here at the house. WE also don't buy bottled water. We have a filter on our tap where we refill our own bottles.

compost, recycle anything that can be, reuse clean containers, use reusable grocery bags, take items to the hazardous waste roundups, turn off lights and appliances when not in the room, use natural light, hang dry items and then toss them in the dryer to get out the stiffness (for a few minutes)

I like to reuse mason jars for canning, paper clips, planting, and kids toys. I like to save egg shells for making crafts. I like to reuse packaging from online orders to reuse for gifting. I love to reuse wood, chicken wire, and anything I can find around my home to do a garden or make my kids a fort. My family recycles soda cans and plastics too! It's fun to go turn in our cans for money!!! Other ways is my husband and I teach my children to always throw away trash and not leave it on the ground. If you see other's trash, pick it up and throw it away. I tell them to teach others to recycle and help save our planet and community!

We catch rain water to water all the outdoor plants, we recycle everything possible, we have a garden every year. We pick up trash on our walk everyday. We donate to the local food bank. We try to make a difference in our community. Every little bit helps. :)

We recycle all newspapers and I give my magazines to our local library. We staple old envelopes together and use as note pads for grocery lists. I donate many things that we don't use or need anymore to the DAV.

I use the newspaper to wrap items for shipping and re-use the bubble wrap received to protect my glass X-mas ornaments.

I recycle my water bottles that I use. I started drinking alot of water and the water bottles are easy on the go. I also recycle old magazines in the recycle bins that are located near a school. I also take the old magazines to the school so children may use them when they are creating a project.

We would make a conscious effort to recycle more. I try and reuse what I can. Old t-shirts and burp cloths become dust rags and cleaning rags at our house. We use all of our citrus peels, and coffee grounds for our garden. The citrus helps keep the cats out of the garden. I make several of my own cleaners. I reuse old glass jars for grease or nick nacks.

I have forced recycling on my friends and family for years and it has now extended to my office as well. We have bins that we put all of our recyclable trash in and the city picks it up weekly. We also shred our paper documents and I use the shredded paper as mulch for my veggie gardens!
