Is Your Meat "Pink Slime" Free?

I won't be buying ground beef anywhere other than fry's and costo's organic brand. They are the the two stores who have said they won't sell pink slime. We will probably also be cutting back on ground beef in general. This is a horrible thing that has happened to our food again. I don't even want my child to eat school lunch if the system is such that they would allow this horrible meat to be fed to children.

McDonalds recently made a statement about not using this garbage in their McNuggets anymore. Repulsive. Safe to eat? No. Thank goodness I have a family member that cuts meat and that I know what I'm getting meat wise.

So horrible! I am glad that we know about it and can take action! I am scared for what else is in our food!

Ironically, I just wrote a blog post about this earlier with a list of stores and whether or not they sell this stuff.

Yes it worries me because I have been eating it for years They need to STOP using it Now that its been put out in the open I think its gross and will have my meat ground fresh by the butcher Just another way for some rich person or company to make money at our expense!!!!! No wonder people get cancer and die from E coli what the heck!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually wrote about this almost a year ago- and even showed the same clip! It is safe to go with what you know... so get to know your butcher!

The trimmings don't concern me as much as the ammonia they use to treat it. It's disgusting that we've been ingesting it into our bodies. I hope that the alternatives I've read about - Angus ground beef and Nature's Promise ground beef - are truly free of "pink slime" and are safer to eat, though if possible I'd rather buy a full cut of meat and ask a butcher to freshly grind it for me.

I think it's disgusting. I can't believe they aren't stopping this. We normally raise our own beef, thank goodness!

This is just gross. The price of food keeps going up and the quality is going down. When we were kids no one hardly had food allergies or got sick on food. That should tell us that the food needs to be corrected.

The idea of meat containing "pink slime" does worry me. First, the term alone is not appealing to my appetite. Secondly, with recent and past bacteria outbreaks in various foods, I wouldn't want to purchase meat that has even the slightest chance of being contaminated. I believe the FDA, the goverment and any other higher powers really need to step up and advocate for the health and safety of our foods. They should be enforcing policies that do not allow for such things like this to happen just for the sake of saving a dollar.

Ammonia--Really! Grew up in FL they test marketed soyburgers. They were good! Why are we poisoning our childern?
