Who says a time out should only be for children?

Jokes aside, a few minutes a day to disconnect and clear our minds is priceless. The opportunity to take a few breaths, relax our shoulders and just sit still can be exactly what we need to recharge and finish the day with excitement and a smile on our face.

It's easier said than done, we know! Crazy schedules, friends, children, spouses, and not to mention today's technology almost always keeps you connected to something or someone. But the benefits of finding that time, even just for a few minutes, can make you feel like a whole new person, like your old self again, maybe even like superwoman.

Research has shown (and supporters can attest) that a little time and effort can go a long way. Practicing yoga, stretching, meditating and running a nice bubble bath are just a few methods of how we can disconnect, and relax. But you, our members, are really the experts. You're the multi-tasking gurus. You're the working professional, stay-at-home mom and party planner all wrapped into one and you do it day after day.

So we want to know, how do you do it  ALL and still find time to disconnect? How do you find a few minutes a day or every couple of days for "Me Time" to rejuvenate your mind and body? Do you have help, set the calendar, or stick to a routine or are you self-aware and just know when it's time to retreat on your own.  Do you find it's easy to put down your cell phone or does someone else unravel your fingers from the keyboard?

Share your experience with us by posting how you disconnect and how you reflect, and you'll be entered to Win 1 of 5 cool relaxation gadgets.  While many relaxation methods can be done with only a few minutes of peace and quiet, we wanted to compile some cool gadgets to help inspire you to find those few minutes a day for yourself.

The contest starts Wednesday, October 5th and ends Monday, October 10th at midnight EST. There will be 5 lucky winners with one winner receiving the grand prize, the Sharper Image Foot Massager, valued at over $50.

Here are the prizes:

Sharper Image foot massager ($50 value)

Aromatherapy Vaporizer with Oil ($40 value)

Conair Foot bath with bubbles and heat ($20 value)

AND

2 Motorized Scalp Massagers ($12 value each)

Good luck!

I am also diabled and my husband works. I have three small children and while they are school I am able to take a small chunk for myself. I lay down read a book and enjoy the peace and quite. I open the window and listen to the birds in the tree outside my door. If I am not able to do that because I am busy during the day, I try and unwind every night. After the kids are fed and sent to their rooms to go to bed I start the shower. I sit down in the shower and let the hot water steam up the shower and wash away all of the hurdles that I incurred throughout the day. I put some shower rocks in the shower and use the lavendar to help me relax. After the shower I use an aromatherapy spray on pillow and lay down. A perfect way to unwind after a long day of being a mom, and a wife.

I relax by taking about an hour to myself every night before bed. I take my time in the bathroom taking out my contacts, washing my face and brushing my teeth. Then, I go to bed and read a book for about 30-40 minutes every night (okay, sometimes more when it is a good book). It gives me time to relax and forget all of the stress from the day. It also helps me to fall asleep. Although a foot massage would be nice too! : )

It's the bath with a lights out, a candle and a glass of red wine. That's it right there.

When all is quiet I like to go outside; sit in a quiet spot on my swing and think of all the good things that happened that day and say thanks

As a stay at home mom, It is difficult to get time away from all distractions and have "me" time. I find that it is significantly more complicated when my sailor is out to sea. In order to ensure I get some relaxation or "mommy" time, My family takes a walk together after we have eaten our dinner. This enables all of us to soak in the weather and surroundings. Then I end my night with turining on classical music to rock my littlest one to sleep and I find it so relaxing I usually sit with him for 20 minutes or more after he is asleep. I think that is the most relazing feeling, all the kids have gone to bed.... nothing but relaxing music.

Every evening my 10 year old daughter and I walk our little dog, Peanut. Not only because Peanut is a little terror to live with if she doesn't get her walks, but because it is my favorite part of the day. We turn off the TV, leave our phones at home, and go out and get some fresh air. Most evenings, we run into neighbors and visit for a while, especially the ones who have dogs. Peanut is very friendly and LOVES to play. We are guaranteed nice conversation and sweet laughs, which is great since people hardly speak to each other in person anymore!

Take some time to put your favorite songs on an iPod......theme songs from your favorite childhood shows, songs played at your wedding, ones that remind you of a great time in your life ( teen/college years) or remind you of someone who is/was in your life. Close your eyes, put on headphones and just drift away to a happy time. How can you not be happy to hear the "Facts of Life" theme song, the soundtrack from your favorite movie or the song that you and all of your friends sang to on a long car trip?

Before the mornig madness begins at my house, I get before up before family members rise. I head down to the kitchen and make myself my fav cappucinno and head to the livingroom. I turn off the lights and open the window, sit and enjoy my java with my eyes closed, imagining I'm in some far away place (the location changes daily). No tv or morning news, just me and my coffee. I feel so relaxed and peaceful. Then I'm ready to take on the day. I personally find it relaxing to unwind a little and know that I've had time to myself early in the morning, that way I'm not going through the day trying to find time for myself and getting upset that I can't. As an added plus during the day, I light sented candles while I'm working (from home) or doing house work.

I do yoga twice a day and meditate once a day. I start my morning with one of several morning yoga DVD's I have, depending on how much time I have tthat morning and how I want to feel that morning. some give me more energy while others relax me. In the evening, I take time before bed for another Yoga DVD and a minimum of 30 minutes of meditation. To me, this is more important than wathcing that "favorite" show. My family, especially my husband, can do the Yoga with me. It not only reinergizes me, rids me of any negative energy that I have, and is a no talk bonding between me and my family. I notice that when I do not take care of myself that I can not effectively take care of others.

I am a bath girl. Best way to relax for me is to draw a hot hot bath, add epson salt and baking soda ( about 1 cup of each) and lavender oil. Turn off the lights, light a candle, and put on my reading glasses with the LED light and read a magazine or lifestyle section of the newspaper. Ahhh...

My favorite way to relax...is going into the gardening and tending to the weeds....It's funny how nothing else seems to matter when im out there...pruning, digging, chopping and when im through I feel accomplishment and relaxed...it's very zen like... ;)

I love to relax by exercising. Yoga, stretching or pilates is my favorite but even running on the treadmill works great. It helps me let go of the stress and frustrations by working out and then I feel so much calmer and better. A good cool shower afterwards just tops it all off.
