Valentine's Day may be months away but that doesn't mean a great date can't happen tonight, this weekend or this month. Whether you're single, dating or married, it's always a good idea to have a few solid date ideas in your back pocket for the right occasion.

Dinner and a movie is a classic. But even the classics can use an update every once and a while. And, for many of us, a free hour, afternoon or  evening  is incredibly precious. So let's make sure that time is best infused with fun, excitement and a little bit of romance.

The SheSpeaks Team has put together 5 Great Date Ideas that are pretty easy to put into action. But we want to hear from YOU. What date ideas make it on your Top 10 list? What have you dreamed about? Or what great date did a friend go on that you wished someone would do for you? Let's share our Best Date Ideas and create a fantastic resource for SheSpeaks members to turn to whenever a little inspiration is needed.

And your efforts won't go unrewarded. Post a great date idea below and you'll be entered to WIN a Romantic Dinner for Two Gift Basket. A second lucky winner will receive a Picnic Backpack ($50 value) and a third winner will receive a Best Romantic Classics 100 CD.The contest will start Wednesday, September 28th and will end Tuesday, October 4th at midnight EST.

5 Date Ideas:

1) Spend an afternoon in an orchard

You probably haven't been to an orchard since you were a kid. Or if you have kids, you haven't enjoyed the experience alone. Take advantage of the fall weather and drive into the country together and pick some fresh fruit, take a hay ride, and get some apple cider. Then go home and bake a pie together!

Not sure how to find your local orchard? Try this website http://www.applejournal.com/trail.htm

2) Bring it Indoors

Sometimes after a long week, the only place you want to be is home. That's ok. Bring the romance indoors. Pick up some delicious dessert, place a blanket and pillows on the living room floor, light some candles, dim the lights and put on some relaxing music. Don't forget to turn the TV and cell phones off and you'll be transported to your own personal paradise.

3. Get your hands dirty

Take a class together! Cooking in the kitchen alone may not be that much fun, but doing it together can be a wonderful exprience. Sign up to make sushi, croissants or chocolate truffles. If you want out of the kitchen, try a pottery or dance class. The point is to get out of the house and try something new... together.

4. Stargaze

A star-lit sky can be incredibly romantic. If you live where the city lights won't get in the way, pack a picnic with wine, cheeses and sweets and find a great place to look up at the stars and enjoy the fresh air before cooler weather arrives. If you're near a city, don't worry. Visit your local planetarium. The view can be just as amazing. To find your local planetarium... http://www.planjam.com/planetarium.html

5. Build something you can play with

Take a trip to your local hobby shop and pick out a project you can work on together. Maybe build a boat, a rocket or a kite and then take it out for a spin once you're finished.

Now it's Your turn. Tell us your Great Date Ideas!

This time of year many communities have farms that are hosting hayrides and other activities. In our town we went on a hayride, holding hands & having fun. The ride ended at a huge cornfield maze. The hayride was fun and the maze was actually quite romantic as we hid from one another and played like children. We bought fresh produce and there was even a petting zoo. Just doing new things together can be very romantic especially if they really bring out your playful side!

One of the best dates my husband I had was going to an amusement park without the kids! We were finally able to visit shops and shows and rides that we never visited before with our kids. We felt like kids again ourselves! It reminded us one of of our first dates 20 years ago.

It's the perfect time to go to a Haunted House! You can grab onto your guy and keep him close as you find your way in the dark! It will be fun and he'll be there to protect you from anything that jumps out!

My husband and I like to go to sporting events. He is a huge sports fan! I didn't used to be but I've enjoyed learning from him. We "bond" over me learning the finer points of the games & we get to spend time together.

My husband and I will be married for 28 years on November 18th. We have been through just about anything you could possibly think of during all of these years. We have raised 3 great kids, no grandkids yet, but, we have 4 granddogs! haha! My idea of a perfect date is to jump in the car or truck, grab a quick bite of dinner and drive down to the beach and sit on the boardwalk and "people watch." We have done this many times and I find it relaxing and love to spend this time...just my hubby and me.

The fall is probably the best time for dates! It's so romantic. A great date idea . . . maybe for first dates . . . grab a cup of pumpkin spice coffee and take a walk in the park. Enjoy the crisp cool air and watch the leaves fall. :)

We have 2 toddlers and don't get much time away but we live in the west coast and are able to get away once in a while and go to our shoreline and enjoy a really nice walk and dinner watching the sunset!

My perfect date night is a walk along the Buffalo waterfront with a stop for ice cream. It is so simple and reminds me of being younger without a care in the world. That is what we need, take our minds off our children and just enjoy each other.

we often get a cup of coffee and go to the local bookstore. We share a table or a couch and read magazines or look for books.

On Sunday's we like to put the kids to bed early and take a romantic bath together. We light candles, have a glass of wine and relax with each other. This gives us some quiet time together and we are able to connect with each other before the hectic week begins again.

I love to go out of the ordinary on a date night, maybe something phyical - like roller skating (you can act like a kid again) it sure beats the monotonous dinner and a movie!

Our usual date is a dinner and a movie. We also love to get couples massages. But we travel a lot together and experience new cities:visiting wineries or breweries, baseball games and sightseeing.

I live in Boston, MA and a good friend of mine was taken on a date to ice skate at the Frog Pond in Boston Commons. A fun evening of ice skating, hot chocolate, and gazing at the stars is my idea of a truly romantic date night. With two kids at home, my husband and I find it very difficult to have alone time. But we recently made an agreement to have a date night together at least once a month. I look forward to this date night very much because it allows us to relax and reconnect with each other. I'm so glad we decided to do this.

We just returned from a 3 day camping trip with friends, and it reminded me once again how we need to take time to enjoy God's beautiful creation! It is so refreshing for my husband and me, too, and it doesn't cost a dime to take a hike locally or find a place to watch the birds and squirrels. A picnic lunch is a wonderful addition, too. Taking time to smell the roses, and enjoy the scenery of life is something we need to do and take a break from the daily responsibilities!

We recently went on a date where we made it our goal to do as much as we could for as little money as possible. It became a challenge and we had almost as much fun planning it as we did on the actual date! We used free movie tickets from a cereal promotion, a free birthday dinner I had to a local restaurant, gift cards to Starbucks, Barnes & Noble and Cold Stone Creamery which all made the date under $20:) In these times when the budget seems to be getting tighter and tighter it is still important to make time with the one you love so I suggest getting creative so that date night isn't something that gets crossed off the list.
