Valentine's Day may be months away but that doesn't mean a great date can't happen tonight, this weekend or this month. Whether you're single, dating or married, it's always a good idea to have a few solid date ideas in your back pocket for the right occasion.

Dinner and a movie is a classic. But even the classics can use an update every once and a while. And, for many of us, a free hour, afternoon or  evening  is incredibly precious. So let's make sure that time is best infused with fun, excitement and a little bit of romance.

The SheSpeaks Team has put together 5 Great Date Ideas that are pretty easy to put into action. But we want to hear from YOU. What date ideas make it on your Top 10 list? What have you dreamed about? Or what great date did a friend go on that you wished someone would do for you? Let's share our Best Date Ideas and create a fantastic resource for SheSpeaks members to turn to whenever a little inspiration is needed.

And your efforts won't go unrewarded. Post a great date idea below and you'll be entered to WIN a Romantic Dinner for Two Gift Basket. A second lucky winner will receive a Picnic Backpack ($50 value) and a third winner will receive a Best Romantic Classics 100 CD.The contest will start Wednesday, September 28th and will end Tuesday, October 4th at midnight EST.

5 Date Ideas:

1) Spend an afternoon in an orchard

You probably haven't been to an orchard since you were a kid. Or if you have kids, you haven't enjoyed the experience alone. Take advantage of the fall weather and drive into the country together and pick some fresh fruit, take a hay ride, and get some apple cider. Then go home and bake a pie together!

Not sure how to find your local orchard? Try this website http://www.applejournal.com/trail.htm

2) Bring it Indoors

Sometimes after a long week, the only place you want to be is home. That's ok. Bring the romance indoors. Pick up some delicious dessert, place a blanket and pillows on the living room floor, light some candles, dim the lights and put on some relaxing music. Don't forget to turn the TV and cell phones off and you'll be transported to your own personal paradise.

3. Get your hands dirty

Take a class together! Cooking in the kitchen alone may not be that much fun, but doing it together can be a wonderful exprience. Sign up to make sushi, croissants or chocolate truffles. If you want out of the kitchen, try a pottery or dance class. The point is to get out of the house and try something new... together.

4. Stargaze

A star-lit sky can be incredibly romantic. If you live where the city lights won't get in the way, pack a picnic with wine, cheeses and sweets and find a great place to look up at the stars and enjoy the fresh air before cooler weather arrives. If you're near a city, don't worry. Visit your local planetarium. The view can be just as amazing. To find your local planetarium... http://www.planjam.com/planetarium.html

5. Build something you can play with

Take a trip to your local hobby shop and pick out a project you can work on together. Maybe build a boat, a rocket or a kite and then take it out for a spin once you're finished.

Now it's Your turn. Tell us your Great Date Ideas!

And, if you have skills in the kitchen and have great date night recipes to share, please check out and add them to the new Recipes section on the SheSpeaks website. Visit http://www.shespeaks.com/recipes

My idea of the perfect date is something that I did to my husband (then boyfriend). I contacted his boss a few weeks before the big weekend, and arranged for my husband to be gone from work for a couple of days. He left for work in the morning, and I packed up our car with camping gear, a cooler full of his favorite foods and drinks and off I went to his work. I pulled up in our car and got out. He's looking at me rather suspiciously, and I told him to go get his stuff and we were leaving. His boss came out and smiled and told him "get outta here, before I change my mind". We got in the car, turned on some good ole tunes and off we went to our favorite place - Duluth MN. Pitched our tent, and spent 3 glorious days in "heaven". He still talks about it to this day, 17 years later!

I am a sucker for a windy, chilly walk hand-in-hand through the wood!!! A picnic in between a canopy of old trees never hurts either!!

One of our special date night things to do is to have dinner at a cutesy restaurant and then either walk along the beach or watch the stars in the sky on a clear night.

Spend the day at the amusement park, ride all the roller coasters but make sure you sit in the front car for a really exciting ride. Share and ice cream cone or fried dough while sitting on a bench people watching. If that is not your thing then play mini golf but bet on the 18th hole. The bet can be as simple as paying for dinner, doing the laundry or doing breakfast in bed. Free neighborhood concerts are also fun and inexpensive.

The perfect date: Since we have the advantage of living on the shores of beautiful Lake Erie we have a natural beauty for our back drop. I pack a supper with a complimenting bottle of wine. We head out onto the lake just before sunset and cook our supper and enjoy or meal with the perfect music playing in the backgound. On the really hot nights we may jump in for a swim. Then head out onto the bow of the boat to watch the sun slowly dip into the water. If you listen real carefully you can hear the hiss as the sun touches the waters edge. We are surounded with the pastel colors which then slowly fade away as the sun is overtaken with the water. As darkness falls nature takes its course.

My husband and I live in Knoxville, TN, 30 miles away from the Smoky Mountains National Park. We like to go to the mountains and walk the quiet walkways or a moderate-level trail that isn't very well known or populated by tourists. We take our time and absorb the scenery. We then take Lamar Alexander Parkway through Townsend and stop at the Apple Valley Barn and treat ourselves to some fried pies before heading home for the evening. It is relatively cheap and great if you love the outdoors, love to hike, and love to take your time.

My favorite date with my husband is when the kids were really small and we couldn't get away so we did it at home. We used the fireplace and had our favorite meal, and ate in the living room while we watched a movie and then played board games all night. It was simple but so much fun since we both needed the break!

Go to a local minor league or semi-professional sporting event! The tickets are inexpensive and they are way more fun then a professional sporting event because there are always tons of fun things going on! More importantly, it is something that you will BOTH enjoy!

My great date idea, is somewhere we can be alone! With 3 kids it's impossible to have any us time. I would love to put the kids to bed, have a late supper and put on a movie and just snuggle on the couch.

After taking care of three kids under the age of seven, it can be stressful and hard to maintain a steady happy life with your partner. On those days that we decide to get my parents to watch the children, we make the whole day of it. We start off by having alone time at home, without any kids screaming mom! We usually will take a nap or just sit down to watch a movie. Than we pick out a restaurant me never been to and try it out. After we go for a nice stroll along the beach and end the night usually at a bar or just go back home to enjoy the solitude of it just being us.

A perfect date for us is just spending time together. We do re-enacting as a family, so those events are special dates. We pack a picnic lunch and find a nice spot to just lay under the trees and enjoy some time together.

My favorite date idea is to go on a walk somewhere unusual. For instance, in my area we have a lot of nature trails and off the path beaches. Not only is it private and romantic, but it takes us out of our element. We escape the everyday hustle and bustle. Don't forget to bring a camera too, there are some beautiful shots you can capture!

I love packing a picnic of our favorite foods: some hors d'oeuvres, some cheese, some great bread and crackers, some fruit, and going to a vineyard together. Do a tasting together, and pick the wine you love the most. At our local vineyard, on a fall or spring evening, they often have live music. Spread a blanket on the hillside, and you have instant romance!
