    Maybe I haven't been exposed to the same version as other commenters. My understanding is that while she was emotionally and possibly physically abused by her stepmother & stepsiblings, Cinderella chose to stay with them because they had been raised in privilege & had no way to cope with poverty after the husband/father died. She was trying to be understanding of their grief & anxiety. I don't really see how that makes her "dependent".

    Cinderella is classic...iconic...I am excited to see a modernized version but I hope the integrity of the story is preserved 😀

    I like Classics to be left just as they were originally.It brings imagination and its something we grow up with and remember lifelong.Fairy Tales and bedtime stories are special memories.If they want to do an updated version I am fine with that but they need to title it and market it as something other than the classic.
