We are trying to pack more into our trips. We had wanted to go to Florida, but instead hopped just 3 hours away in Alabama, and are visiting museums and the zoo. So, we are combining a home school field trip with a short vacation. Gas for the trip was as much as the hotel room!

One good thing is that the hotels are empty, and Priceline is rocking. I got our room for 40.00 a night, so that helped with the gas.

Still, we had wanted to go to the beach later. It would be 160 just in gas though, at least.

We are not gonna be able to go anywhere. We can stay free with family in Florida but you got to be able to buy gas to get there and back home. We cant afford to.

Our 10 year wedding anniversary is this July. We were planning on taking a rather expensive vacation to celebrate, but my husband doesn't have any vacation time because he's at a new job. His former employer was losing too much business to keep him and simply couldn't afford to pay him any longer.

Gas prices, as well as food prices are so high my vacation budget has definitely been reduced. I'm taking one trip to the beach this year and I purchased a plan ticket versus driving because it was actually equivalent in cost, at least I'm saving on travel time. Local events are also more appealing this year and after attending several I can't believe what I've been missing out on all along!

Vacation time is time for me to go home. I visit my family in another country and the cost will not stop me.

We Plan to stay home this summer because of the environment, also to travel these days it costs and arm and a leg with gas prices going thru the roof so that makes it hard as well. The economy is brutal right now and it is real sad.

I'm hoping just to have some time off to spend with my family even if it's at home, we'll just have to make the best of it.

We were hoping for the beach but it just isn't going to happen. Instead we're going to stay home and invest in some annual memberships to local attractions. Never thought I'd say it, but that will be cheaper. Sad sad sad.
