Do you always try to follow traditions? Why? or Why not?
Yes, we love the traditional American Thanksgiving meal (86.5%)
We do have a traditional meal, but it does not include turkey (3.6%)
No, we like to try different foods every year for our Thanksgiving dinner (9.8%)
I love the turkey but the only way we have the turkey is if I make it for my husbands family. I did not make a turkey this year for the first time.
Yes, traditional food is best! It is delicious! I love the way the house smells with all the yummy food cooking! And best of all, it is one day that we can eat guilt free!!!
The smell of turkey permeating the house reminds me of my childhood.
We love having turkey on Thanksgiving and turkey sandwiches on Friday.
I don't really like to celebrate a holiday that was only impending doom for the people who truly discovered this country. I believe we should give thanks every day of the year, not limit it to a specific date.
I switch it up, one year is turkey and the next is chicken. We always do traditional sides though.
My favorite part is the left over turkey sandwiches the days to follow Thanksgiving!
Turkey is comfort food and represents the bond our family has. When I would come home from college, I would request mini-thanksgivings just for the comfort and love that goes into making the meal.
I made a Thanksgiving dinner for our foreign exchange student on Tuesday since she was going home for the school break. Only second time recently that I've roasted a turkey! I think she liked it even though the meal was not as spicy as she's used to in China. Now I have tons of leftovers. Will be going to my niece's for Thanksgiving which is the first time she has hosted us since she now lives close by.
Although we love the American Thanksgiving Tradition and have embraced it fully since living here (24 years) we do incorporate a few English foods into our meal. We always include bread sauce and brussel spouts with dinner and of course we have to snack on the old english staple of sausage rolls pre dinner.
