I make some dishes from scratch and I buy some prepared dishes, "doctor it up" a bit for taste.

a home cooked meal is much more personal, and if I am overwhelmed, rather than store bought items, I ask another dinner guest to make there specialty items to bring

I love to cook and I love to host parties. One of my favorite parts of hosting people at my house is deciding on the menu. Most of the time I make everything myself, although I do try to make at least one dish be something really easy to prepare. I've also just started to become comfortable with taking people up on their offer to bring a dish - this helps them feel good about being part of the meal/party/event, relieves me of a task and almost always ensures that the dish is homemade. I love a good party! ;)
