Planting, weeding, harvesting, and then canning or freezing. It is great to have food that we raised ourselves to eat!

I have not been keeping a garden, but I plan to start. I just hope I can be successful, I am sort of known for being a plant killer. Nothing better then fresh from the yard veggies though!

My husband has two tomato plants in pots on our patio desk. Our yard is to small for a garden but we eat a lot of radishes, celery, carrots etc from the grocerystore. I did go strawberry picking last week.

Its a family affair for us. Every year we plot out what we're going to plant. I think its important for kids to understand where their food comes from and that they can play a role in its creation.

Would love to plant my own vegetables, but we have a swimming pool and my entire backyard is cement. My daughter wants to get a box that we can place on the patio and she will be planting all kinds of vegetables and herbs! It would be so cool to be able to go in your own back yard and get fresh veggies!

I live in a town home and I am lucky to have a Italian father who can't live without gardening and we do it together every year. If you don't have space or live in an apartment and odn't have a relative or friend that you can use a samll patch of land on there are many co-ops and local farms who alllow people to pay a small fee and/or supply plants and all work together and reap the benefits together. There are also many communities who have gone to local officials to start community garens and even many apartment owners have allowed tenants to set up a beautiful garden for all to share. Even a topsy turvy or small pots can house a nice tomato plant, or a small herb garden. No matter how small a space you have even one little pot or two on a patio can yield a nice bunch of veggies!

Used to plant gardens every year and canned and froze the produce. The last year that I had a garden, all the lids on my canned beets came unsealed because of a defect in the lids. What a mess and such a loss.

I like planting different tomatoes on my front porch. It receives full sun all day long. I put them in big 5 gallon buckets. The water hose is close to the porch so it is easy to water them. When they start growing they need a lot of water. So far I have only planted 2 plants so far. One plant is the cherry tomatoes. This is my first try for the little tomatoes. If it does good I will plant different small tomatoes next year. I think they will do better on my front porch than the big ones. I also like planting herbs in pots. Growing up, my Mother alway had a garden. She would freeze and canned the vegetables. My favorite of her canning was dill pickles. I can still smell and taste them.
