HELP! Need Lotion for Legs After Shaving!!
on May 05, 2012

Hi, Ladies! I need your help. As the years are catching up to me, my skin has become much drier. I need your help, suggestions, and opinions on a moisturizing lotion to use on my legs after shaving. Every lotion I have tried after shaving my legs burns and/or causes lots of little red bumps that hurt. I've even tried waiting hours after shaving but that hasn't helped either. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!

My mom swears by shaving with conditioner, yes hair conditioner, says it makes her legs less dry and is cheaper than shave gel.

I really like St. Ives Oatmeal and Shea butter lotion. It's gentle, yet moisturizing and it doesn't have a lot of fragrance.

Try using a moisturizing shave gel like Skintimate skin therapy, it has vitamin e in it. I love it, it helps my legs from looking scaly!!

Bath and Body works has a great line that is called True Blue Spa and they have a few lotions that have minimal smell and LOTS of great things like Shea Butter, Avocado Oil, etc. I love the Triple Moisterizer which of course they do not seem to make anymore, but I have also loved Lay it on thick!! They change the line here and there so just ask the ladies who work there!

Try some dry spray oil. Also spray oil into the bath while shaving. I do this every time I take a bath to help with skin dryness and no longer have a problem. Be sure to also use a moisturizing or sensitive skin shave cream and even a razor with at least a moisturizing strip like Gillette Sensor Excel for Women. I tried Venus and Shick Intuition and the moisturizing bar just melts off in a weird way compared to the razor - so I don't recommend those.

I must say that i use olay. I always have dry skin so i tried something new. I use http://www.walmart.com/ip/Olay-Body-Quench-Ultra-Moisture-W-Shea-Butter-Vitamins-E-B3-For-Extra-Dry-Skin-11.8-fl-oz/10322213?ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=10322213&sourceid=1500000000000007346330&veh=cse right after i get out of the shower while my legs are still damp and they still feel silky and smooth when i wake up the next morning :) hope this helps!

Curel is the only lotion that works for me, and believe me, I've tried them all. It soaks in your skin, doesn't just stay on top like some of the other greasy formulas, and it's very moisturizing. I am picky about my lotion, and I swear by Curel.
