zero energy after having a baby?

Hello every one! I'm a first time mother to an amazing baby boy and happily married. I'm 30 years old and before having a baby I had 2 jobs. After having my baby I decided to be a stay at home mom simply because I don't have my family around to help me with my baby and I really don't trust strangers. My baby is now 10 months old and some days I feel so tired I just want to cry my eyes out . I don't remember my mom acting this way after having my sis and two brothers. I'm the oldest of 4. Whats wrong with me? I don't feel like doing anything sometimes. I have no interest in seeing my friends just my family on the weekends. I don't invite anyone over because I'm always so tired and my house sometimes is a mess. Is it just me????

Im 21 and my daughter will be 1 friday and I feel the same way. I always thought it was because I breastfeed because I was told that it could really take alot of your energy.

Try to find a MOMS group. They are in every state. Look at www.Momsclub.org and search by your area. This is awesome supoort. They are stay at home or Moms who work part time. They will be able to share all types of activities you can do with your child. I joined when my daughter was 1 yrd old. I love these woment that were in my playgroup. During playgroup, it is more for us at that young age. Our kids are 4yrs old now and we are still very good friends. They will give you support. Go to the library, just get out and try to socialize, there are Moms that feel just like you. Good luck!

OMG!!! Thank you ladies. I felt like I was all by my self here... Thank you so much for the advice. I started working out again a few weeks ago and I feel so much better! I used to run about 6 miles every other day for like ever 4 to 6 years cant remember. I was obsessed with the Rock and roll marathon or whatever. Then a couple of months before getting pregnant I broke my foot. My hubby and I love to go out dancing and we live a few blocks away from our favorite night club. I had to be in bead rest for TWO MONTHS! My co workers would call me all the time to check on me. I have to admit that all I wanted to do was to be left alone... I'm taking it one day at a time ever since that day. But everything changed in my life so its hard to find your self again. and to think that I was so popular before. Now no one really finds the time to ask how I'm doing. Its ok though because all I need is my family. That really makes me happy. New friends will come along eventually......

First I want to agree with above about MOMS Club. I have been a member for 5 years and I have to tell you that joining this amazing group changed my life! For the positive. Definitely look into this. My real comment is about your fatigue. I was just diagnosed Yesterday! with Hypothyroidism. I would urge you to ask your Dr for a blood test. I have been so tired for a while. Like over a year. Not just tired but couldn't get out of bed. Fell asleep even standing up and cracked my head. My house looks like hoarders and my life had come to a halt. It has gotten so bad that I was going to send my 2 daughters to live with my sister until I could get this under control. I can take 40mg of adderall and a 5hour energy and sleep for 12 hours and still struggle to wake up! Then still be exhausted. But it progressively got worse over time. I knew something wasn't right. Finally my dr agreed. Looking forward to starting treatment so I can join the living again. Look into it. And good luck!

Oh man! so it could be serious hu? My mom thinks its just my body healing itself but no its more then that, I have never felt this drained in my whole life. I was running 5 to 6 miles every day and lifting pretty heavy before becoming pregnant so I was totally in shape and now that my son is 1 I feel a little better but I look like I have never lifted a finger my whole life I mean the weight gain got out of control. Not to mention my hubby is a Certified Nutritionist/Certified personal trainer/Pro Body builder and helps me with my diet but its so FRUSTRATING!!! Nothing is happening :/ The fact that I had to be a stay at home mom is not helping. I'm used to moving around walking everywhere but now all I do is watch Elmo with my baby and walk my dogs for a few minutes at a near by park. Its just not enough for what I was used to doing which kinda depresses me. I will look into the MOMS Club for sure! Thanks for all the great advise!

I had the same problem after having my first. For two years my family doctor told me it was post partum depression and I tried 6 different medications for it. I finally went back to my gynecologist for a check up and told her what was going on. I found out that I have PCOS with insulin resistance. I was put on metformin along with diet modification (similar to type 2 diabetes). Within 6 months, I got my energy back and finally lost the "baby" weight. Take the time to take to your doctor about how you have been feeling and let them run some test!
