I have a neighbor that is now 96 years old. He always had a garden in the past but over the last couple years, he's not been able to do any planting - he broke his leg when he ended up having to have amputated, so he is confined to a wheelchair. So this year, I'm volunteering my gardening skills to plant and tend to a garden for him. He has no family nearby and is such a sweet man... plus, I'm sure he will share stories of growing up in the 1920's and 1930's with me! It's definitely a win-win situation!

I recycle and upcycle everything I can. I try to limit my use of water and electricity. I carpool. I garden. I do what I can.

I try to recycle when I can, and keep the electricity we use in our house to a minimum.

I take quick showers and turn the water off when washing my hair. I turn off the water when brushing my teeth. We recycle all plastic, cardboard, and paper. I use reusable bags when going shopping or don't use bags at all and just put items directly into my trunk when shopping. Try to carpool as much as possible. To conserve electric, I turn off all unnecessary breakers in my panel that we don't use and never leave things plugged in other than the important ones (fridge, freezer, alarm clock etc.) Keep heat at 63 degrees, air conditioner at 80 degrees, hot water heater at 90 degrees. Not only does it help the environment, but it also helps my electric bill.

I try to recycle everything, bring my own bags to the grocery store and try to buy sustainable and natural products that are good for me and the planet.
