I think as long as you can properly care for them it is okay to have the number of animals you want. But hoarding of 10 or more is hazardous to them and your health

as long you can properly care for, give the necessary attention, feed them correctly, provide necessary veterinary care and the animals get along, you have room in your house, not outside, then you should be able to have as many animals as you want. you have to remember, raising or having a pet can be just as expensive as having a kid today.

I have 6 cats and a dog (did have another dog but she passed away recently of old age). I am an avid animal welfare advocate and animal lover! I would have more if I could afford to take all of them to the vet for yearly check-ups and feed them, have them groomed and/or do it myself. I believe you should be able to take care of them by having enough inside space for them to have their own places of refuge and be financially able to care for all of them equally. Knowing cats and their needs is imperative as cats are very different from dogs. They need more to be emotionally and physically healthy. It's important that you have enough time to spend with them as well.
