my 16 year old daughter has bad acne. We have tried so many of the drugstore products, but none seem to help that much. Can anyone recommend a face cleanser that might help?

Mary Kay has a new system out called ClearProof. It works quite well without drying my skin out.

It's best to keep the cleanser gentle and work with a dermatologist for a prescription cream. I've found that Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser is the most gentle, yet cleansing face wash for me. Also - people often forget about the eye makeup remover they use. Oily makeup removers can leave residue. Neutrogena's extra gentle eye makeup remover pads don't leave a residue, but work well. A FANTASTIC prescription topical foam is Neosalus. This isn't for treating acne, but it absolutely does not clog pores and allows skin to remain moisturized even when using topical acne creams that they might prescribe. Try to get a prescription for Neosalus along with whatever acne cream the doctor prescribes and apply it before applying the medication.http://www.shespeaks.com/discussionForumTopicCreate/70142/135642/247279/1/pcdf/2/21778499/11

Taking a lactobacillus acidophilus dietary supplement daily can help with the acne. You can find these at health food stores, GNC and I would think Walmart would also carry these.

Start by using just plain ivory soap. Basic is the best method when dealing with teen acne. If that doesn't give you the results you need, try Neutrogena acne prone skin bar soap. Try to stay away from using too many products with salicylic acid that will only irritate the skin and possibly leave scarring. Do not wash your face more frequently. People tend to do this thinking they are helping improve the situation. It will only make the skin worse. Make sure you keep your hair and hands clean. You touch your face frequently and dirty hands can cause infection. If the basics don't help, see a dermatologist. Experimenting with your skin in your teens could cause damage that will age the skin prematurely. Leave it to the professionals.

Firstly, please please PLEASE take her to the dermatologist to see what king of acne she is dealing with, type of skin she has, and what he/she recommends as far as treatment and cleansers, they do know best. I use prescription clyndamician lotion(twice a day), tretinoin(once a day or every other), and every once in a while good old neutrogena benzyl peroxide. For my face wash I use purpose gentle cleansing wash day and night, it's very gentle, effective, and fairly inexpensive. Now my acne wasn't super terrible, but if I got a pimple I knew to expect it to be on my face for a week or two. They would be extremely painful and usually left scars. Today after using my regime religiously I am very pleased with my skin. I may get one or possibly two a month and they are gone within 2-3 days, but I haven't had a pimple in 7 months. Plus the tretinoin helps with past scaring and wrinkles! Good luck

You have to try Peter Thomas Roth's Acne Kit. I've struggled with acne for years and these are the most effective products with least adverse effects(drying, peeling, redness) that I have ever tried! All the products in the kit are amazing and work very quickly, but my absolute favorite is the sulfur mask. After using this mask I see almost immediate results! The kit is $35 and you can purchase it at Ulta. All of the products inside of the kit are sold separately, so if she decides she only needs a couple of them, you can purchase individually!:)
