I need to find an excellent red wine to serve at a formal tea. Most of the attendees prefer a desert wine, but The menu is a variety of finger sandwiches, and several tables of deserts. I'm not a wine expert and could use anyone's suggestion . thank you

I love Russian river Valleys Patio Pink. It is a rose with a very sweet scent but a dryer taste.

Do you have a Trader Joe's nearby? If so, I would suggest their Charles Shaw wines. Charles Shaw makes a variety of different wines, which you can use to cater to your guests individual tastes. They are yummy yet affordable...the price is just an added bonus!!! I know plenty of 'winos' who drink Charles Shaw regularly, and prefer it over some of the more expensive brands.

I have found the Kirkland signature wines, red and white, a good bargin at Costco and good. My daughter just brough back Llano wines from Texas for me. Cannot get in Minnesota.

Barefoot mascato is a favorite red wine of everyone I know and it is very tasty.

If they prefer dessert wine, I would suggest a fruity red zinfandel. Although an afternoon tea would be more a setting for white wine, like a Riesling (German, not Australian because the Australian ones are pretty dry). Or, you could go with a Rose, but a unique one, like a white Merlot (not impossible to find but a little more unusual). A Rose is pretty and generally they are crowd-pleasers.

i love the barefoot and flip flop wine selections. The reds and the whites are all good and very inexpensive.

Imported Red wines from Italy are good. Chardonnay, Shiraz red wine from Australia, Mascoto, California Red wines are your best bet

I prefer Duplin Winery Wine they have a great selection of Red desert wines
