I'm a little in love with my immersion blender. Seriously, I use it at least once a day! What are your favorite appliances?

I could not live without some sort of coffee maker and some sort of George Foreman grill on my countertop! Those are lifelines in my kitchen! The microwave is pretty important too...... Currently I have enough points saved up with a survey company to order either a breakfast sandwich maker or a Keurig special edition machine (or a new George Foreman grill!). I see pros and cons to both, and I am trying to make the wisest choice based on how much use I will get out of the device in question...... The Keurig can make coffee, tea or cocoa but the K-Cups are costly and I have read about "descaling" issues. The breakfast sandwich maker only seems to work with round breads and it will cook eggs but not meats. So I'd have to only use pre-cooked meats...... I think I could also order some sort of toaster oven as well, but I don't know if there is enough space for it in my tiny kitchen. .... And then there is an option to order a 13" TV/DVD combo, from a brand I've never heard of - GPX!

Yes the k-cups can be expensive but you can buy a re-usable filter in most stores for less than $10 and use your own favorite coffee. I've had my Keurig for over 2 years. I've never had issues with de-scaling. You just use white vinegar and I do it once a month. As for the GPX brand. ..things are cheap and not well made. I would skip that. Just my opinion though. Good luck with your decision. :)

Thank you, tammybaby -- So in order to use other brands of those cups (Folger's, Celestial Seasonings, whatever brand of cocoa, etc.) with a Keurig, you have to get a special filter?.... I am really on the fence about this Keurig -- it is a "special edition" version of it, if I recall, through one particular survey company. The reviews of that particular model were mostly good, but there were some not-so-good ones too.... I drink a lot of coffee every week, so it's not that I need only one cup per day and that's it -- but the thing is that I would be more likely to drink tea if I could use a Keurig to make it. And lots of times during the holiday season and into January and February I would like to drink one cup of cocoa here and there, without trying to mix up the powder and get the water hot enough. A Keurig would help with that too.

My Keurig would be my FAVE. I love my coffee and I have the refillable Plastic K-Cups that I use. I can use any blend of coffee and it is much cheaper than buying the Kcups themselves.

Strangely, if I were to get this "Special Edition" Keurig that I would get from the survey panel I belong to, I would be getting it less for the coffee and more for the ability to make cups of cocoa or tea!! I drink a lot of coffee -- so much so that having a regular drip coffee maker and using regular everyday coffee makes sense for me, instead of worrying about the K-Cups. ... But, the ability to be able to make cocoa, tea or an occasional single cup of "special" coffee (if I only want one cup) is the highlight for me. I already have some sample K-Cups (Folger's, Maxwell House and Gevalia) that can be used, and the Special Edition model I am considering also comes with a sample pack of 12 or so different coffees and teas from different brands. Most importantly, this item would be free with my points on the survey panel. I am just trying to decide if the other items I am looking at (such as the breakfast sandwich maker) are more worthwhile to get right now than the Keurig!

Thanks for the post, honestly I thought I was the only one, who really loved their immersion blender. I seriously find a excuse to use mine more than once a day, these things are awesome. I really have no intention to ever go back to the old ways of prepping food! If that means I am lazy lol I will gladly wear that badge.

My mother-in-law got me hooked on the George Foramen grill bandwagon when she was still blessing this world with her beautiful little face she unfortunately was in poor health and she was limited on what she could do on her own, but she still loved the freedom of helping out in the kitchen while we prepped meals for our family and this little gadget allowed her to make so many simple and delicious creations on her on it was fantastic and truly made it a family meal. Now everytime I use mine especially when our daughters are lending a hand in the kitchen just seeing their faces remind me of "Ma" and the times we shared in that kitchen seeing how a simple appliance could give a person a piece of themself back. Wonderful product that's why both of our girls are getting one in their college kitchen must haves box.
