1 week ago   ::  I wasn't sure how I would like this book but I was pleasantly surprised. Took me back to a period in time and a profession that I was unfamiliar with. An easy read but very enjoyable.

on May 09, 2012   ::  I am a huge fan of Robert Pattinson and became aware of this book when the movie was coming out. As I absolutely hate seeing any movie based on a book prior to reading the book I had to go out and get this book to read first. As I delved into the story I could see that the writer has a genuine talent for storytelling and did a lot of research into the era which she has portrayed. I think if you like a good romance mixed in with a specific era of history and read more into the genre of romance with comedy and a bit of macabre humor then you will love this book as much as I did.

on Apr 18, 2012   ::  Here is my disclaimer: DO NOT LET THE NAME SCARE YOU AWAY. I read this book way before Rob Pattionson put his cute little mug on the movie screen to portray the main character. I also have met the author, who is a natural, organic beauty. If you read the book, you know exactly what the title means and it becomes an inside joke - if you will. Jacob is an adorable character and you will fall in love with him as you root him along throughout the entire book. If you are a sappy romantic like I am, you will not be able to keep this book down. I lost exactly 2 nights of sleep and then a few more because I was sad it was over. Then, I obsessively followed the movie production....lol....it is GOOD! Read it!

on Apr 15, 2012   ::  At it's best this book combines outrageously whimsical premises with touching romanticism but she sort of overstuffs the drama (so many examples to give but no spoilers, I promise) and doles out the passion in a relationship you can't really, truly believe in. I love circus and freak show culture so originally, that is what drew me to this book, and it does not skimp on that. So, if you have seen the 1930's film "Freak" and loved it, this is most certainly the book for you. If you love romantic period early century period pieces, this is probably for you. And, if you love elephants that drink lemonade, you have found your very own Great Gatsby.

on Apr 02, 2012   ::  This was a very enjoyable book to read. It introduced me to the world of circus life that I knew nothing about, and had a great believable story.
