My vote is no - I just don't see what good can come from it, UNLESS the teacher has created a page specifically for communicating with students. I've heard of this but haven't seen it in practice. Still though, I'm not sure that the teacher needs to see the wall of his/her students.

No,unless it is strickly school work related. It would be too easy for things to get out of control in an unsupervised environment (facebook).Look at the pictures kids post of themselves.Imagine a teacher receiving these pictures in the privacy of their home and vice versa and it is easy to see why and how things could go wrong.

If you are a teacher, you should NEVER be friends with a student on facebook or anything of that nature! You're just asking to get your license revoked!

By the time kids hit 13,they have the reasoning to know what is appropriate and what is not.I would also watch my kids fb page of course.

This is my thought: As long as your friends with them as well there shouldn't be a problem. And it's a great way to get extra help or advice. So why not let them be friends.

I have teachers that I am friends with on facebook and some do friend their students, and I think it is crazy!!! Even if you don't post inapproporiate photos or comments your friends might and you have exposed that child to those things. It's a very fine line. Teachers and kids should not be friends.

A teacher's personal life should be just that, personal. There is no reason for teachers, and students to become facebook friends. A lot can be taken out of context, and private information may inadvertently be shared with each other. This is a dangerous path. One I think no one should take part in.

If you can trust your child in school with teacher and many other people you have not met, why not online where you can moitor everything.
